One of the Best Animated Super Hero Comedies Ever!

The Tick animated series will always be one of my favorite Saturday morning cartoon shows. I purchased this DVD collection to relive the series in all its glory (and because I no longer own a VHS with which I recorded all the episodes over ten years ago!) The Tick vs. Season One includes twelve of the thirteen original episodes. The episode "Tick vs. the Mole Man" is not included; I've read this was due to 'creative considerations' probably because of the character Mindy Moleford-- a spoof of Cindy Crawford, but that is a bit of speculation. Either way, you can still enjoy the other twelve episodes of this classic comedy series based off the 1980's New England Comics flagship comic book hero. I often find, while some of the quips and jokes can come off obnoxious or obvious, the series is well written with hi-brow humor and much of the characters and circumstance allusions to either classic literature or parodies of other comic lore. Get ready for 252 minutes of crime fighting fun featuring everybody's favorite hero The Tick! The set contains the first season of The Tick and he's wearing the blue tights of justice! You get to watch the Tick and Arthur, his favorite sidekick, battle villains such as Chairface Chippendale, El Seed, Mr Mental and many more.

It should be noted that the two disc set does not contain Episode #11. Also, there are no extras on the dvds. Even with that being said, this set contains hours of campy Tick fun that's absolutely worth the price of admission. For anyone who enjoyed the show, this set is a must.Read full review...

The eternal blue guardian of truth and justice!

The Tick television series was a wonderful thing, true to the spirit of the original comics. From the inspired genius of Chairface Chippendale to the infectious insanity of the Evil Midnight Bomber What Bombs at Midnight, each episode is a spectacular journey into silliness that appeals to kids and adults alike.

Though the collection is missing Episode #11, all the other classics from season one are there, including my favorite green slime in "The Tick vs. The Uncommon Cold". This collection definitely gets a position of honor in my collection.Read full review...

Hilarious

I stumbled across the Tick watching cartoons with my kids several years ago and thought it was laugh out loud funny. At one full-on belly laugh per episode with several fall-out-of-your-chair moments. I was sorry when it became a live action show on network TV as I felt sure they wouldn't get it (they didn't). But I got this for Christmas and love watching it with my kids, who are now older and can get some of the sly in-jokes.
