A very good sequel

New Moon takes up right where Twilight left off. This sequel is just as entertaining as the original movie and fans will not be disappointed. Bella (Kristen Stewart) is celebrating her birthday and the others have all planned a party for her. From there things take off and we find out that the Vampires are not the only things that are around town. When he realizes that his presence is endangering the life of Bella, Edward (Robert Pattinson) decides to take off and leave everything he loves behind.

This is a very good sequel to the award winning movie Twilight and the viewer will get caught up in the saga just like in the first movie.

Additional Case includes: Alex Meraz, Ashley Greene, Billy Burke, Bronson Pelletier, Cameron Bright, Charlie Bewley, Chaske Spencer, Christopher Heyerdahl, Dakota Fanning, and Tyson Houseman

If you enjoyed the first movie, you will love this one.

I'm Not a Twilight Fan but. . .

I'm not a big Twilight fan, I like the movies, but I cannot read the books. I just can't read about high school anymore, since I haven't been there in so long.

However, the movies are entertaining enough. The music is great (love their choice of Bon Iver and Lykke Li in this one), and the look is very stylized. It's a beautiful movie, especially the scenes in the woods.

I don't think the acting is amazing. I love Kristen Stewart in other movies (like Speak) but I find her to be flat here. Still, that's sort of her thing. I'm hoping she'll become more comfortable in her own skin as she gets older and we'll see even better acting out of her. She's okay as the main character, she's endearing in some ways, but sometimes you lose interest in her own self-loathing. Still, there's something about her that's always made her one of my favorite actresses. She's not a common beauty, and she's not bubbly, but she's interesting because of that. I'm glad they chose her, despite the fact that I don't think she's quite taken this lead the way I think she could (and hope she will!).

I have to say though, that the relationship between Bella and Edward to me is cold. I don't feel any connection between the two of them other than a sexual one. They don't really communicate well. I could not find any reason why they liked each other except that they found each other attractive. But when she was with Jacob, I actually felt a connection there. They seemed much more in tune and much more compatible. So, I was of course disappointed that the nice, dependable guy was ditched for the mysterious jerk. But I guess that's why I want to see the next one so bad. I just hope they work on Bella and Edward's awkwardness toward each other.

As for the guys, yes, they're good-looking. But I don't think that carries the movie. In my eyes, it's got all the components of a classic chick-flick; It's entertaining, there's not much thought involved, and it's easy to watch, with hunky guys and beautiful scenery. But I think guys will be able to handle it as well because they've added some action, adventure, and danger to the mix. I say this because I know a few guys who won't admit it outright, but were obviously engrossed in the movie when we watched it.

I bought it because I like the series and I'm going to collect them all. I can't say whether or not people who aren't Twilight fans like me are going to like it as much as I did. I liked it, and I can only really speak for myself. It was a good movie. I was entertained. And I'm excited to see the next one.

New Moon too different from it's prequel.

The story line of it was good. Very similar to the original New Moon book. Unfortunately, the change in directors, changes the two movies a lot. So Bella (lead character) isn't a wimp, or as shy. She is confused about herself when Edward leaves her in the book, but in the movie, she seems so upset, but still strong. Which is what I don't like. I am a pro-am director, and I look at the art of the movies. Certain movies like: Marmaduke, Cat's and Dog's, and Eclipse (just to name a few) don't have art. The animal movies, have horrible jokes, and cheap 2 cent comedy; just to make a quick dollar. Where does Eclipse and New Moon fall into this, they have a bunch of sexy vampire guys all wrapped up in romance. A lot of people would give 5 STARS every time, but only because of the reason I gave. I give 3 STARS (boo me all you want) but I see as if they broke away from the art, and from the book too much. They put sexy guys up their to sell. If they put ugly, average Joe guys like me, would you want to see it. Hell no! So think wisely if you want to spend your money. I bought it because my mother always wanted a copy, so I bought and sent her one.Read full review...

2nd movie in the twilight saga

I have recently been crowned a Twilight Mom. This distinction is bestowed if your a mom and you like Twilight. My 13 year old daughter got me started. Honestly, I am a fantasy movie lover and Twilight is played often at my home for two reasons: ok background music and beautiful scenery. I just like soft noise in the background, so New Moon suffices. It's low key on violence, no bad words, the character Edward is a 20th century gentleman, lead character Bella shows you can survive after a heartbreak and the main family; the Cullens, live the motto "Be better than you're suppose to be". So this is what I hope my daughter is picking up, but like most girls she probably can't get past the beauty and bulging biceps of the young actors. The acting has improved over the first movie and if you believe real hard in the premise "vampires are sexy", even undeserving Twilight Moms can endure it for 90 min.Read full review...

Awesome product! Great value for the money! Now I just want to enjoy it.

I've been collecting the complete Twilight Saga collection and New Moon helps tie the story together. It isn't my favorite one, but is needed to tell the story. I've been shopping at different places for bargains and I now have a complete set. I've even tied the whole thing together with Vampires Suck, a comedy based on the Twilight Saga. I guess there are easier ways to get this collection, but I draw a small disability pension and eBay has helped me get the whole set.Read full review...

Great characters! Book is best but film is worth it too

The general rule is that the book is always better than the film and this is NO exception. I understand that some details need to be left out for the sake of time. I found some omissions glaringly offensive however. Stephanie Meyer wrote some very positive God, soul, and Heaven references. It offended me that those references were largely omitted in the film as they were key to certain elements of the plot. Based on these omissions I can only wonder how the omissions will affect the films' plots.
I am very pleased by the depth of emotion that Taylor Lautner as Jacob, Kristin Stewart as Bella, and Robert Pattinson as Edward, portrayed. This story is fraught with emotion and the young actors hit the nail on the head in their portrayals of those emotions.
Overall, worth purchasing and quite enjoyable but demands that the book be studied and enjoyed alongside the film.

A waxing perception

I have to say, I have never been one to fall into this Twilight phase - not however criticizing those who have by any means, simply not quite understanding the draw into it. Having watched both Twilight, and New Moon, I personally enjoy them - but not as the movie that was intended. I had personally read parts of Twilight and thought it to be a rather comical interpretation of a vampire story, so I watched the film. The film did not disappoint, I found it to be hilarious, the acting in the first -while raved of the raw and true emotion, lacked any connection between the characters. The plus in their defense was that they chose very attractive actors, so the lust a viewer would feel towards seeing them on the big screen made up for the lack of connection between the lovers, since most of the people watching were females who would rather imagine themselves in the position anyways.

By saying the film was comical, it's not meant to be insulting, because there is still a value in it even though it was not intended for that. I have watched Twilight a few times and still find it just as funny. People say that the books are better than the films, and I don't doubt that, the story did have potential, but Bella and Edward never really did, the strengths that they do have, are never played upon, but instead only their weaknesses. This is compared to a great Romeo and Juliet story of the ages, and that could be said as true, because in Romeo and Juliet they were still just children as well that quickly fell into lust - just as Bella and Edward, the story moves too quickly, and they don't have any deeper understanding of each other - the lack of actors emotional connection to each other just shows this continued naive view of love.(some could say the two dating threw off the on-screen chemistry perhaps)

All of that being said, I went into watching New Moon having high hopes for another teen vampire comedy - and was disappointed, while somewhat impressed. Disappointed that there was not as much comedy as the first, but impressed that they had cleaned up a lot of what was wrong in the first. Jacob's character, has matured a lot, he is quite a strong actor, when Bella and Jacob interact together throughout that first large chunk of the film, you actually feel heat. Edward, still made me laugh, I enjoy Robert Pattinson, but the whole character of Edward has never come off as a strong one.

The director and writer also did a much better job on this film then the last. In the first film, camera angles, and stylistic choices of the film did however keep me enthralled, - actually the main reason I watched it in the first place. This did not change in the second - no matter what is lacking, at least it was still pretty. The CGI did add an extra element to it that I enjoyed as well, they did rather well with the transformations of the werewolves in Jacob's tribe. In every way, New Moon was much better than Twilight, but still in my opinion not the best a movie could be.

I think what bothers me the most, is that the story is being compared to so many that have much deeper substance. Anne Rice, and Shakespeare, have no place in comparison to Stephanie Meyer's rendition of a vampire, her werewolves make much better characters anyways. She places vicious villains in a naive tween fantasy, only to be taken away in the simplest of efforts. While a big thumbs up for not turning her vampires into bats - all respect was lost again when I saw Edward sparkle.

A pleasant surprise

As someone who was a huge fan of the novels, I felt pretty let down by the first Twilight movie, especially the casting of Edward and Bella. So it took a while for me to see "New Moon," since 1) my expectations were so low and 2) "New Moon" was my least favorite book in the series.

But once I did finally sit down and watch it, I was surprised with how good it was. In my opinion, the book was better than the movie, and that is RARELY the case! The introduction of the werewolves in this film had a lot to do with its appeal and suspense, not to mention Dakota Fanning and Martin Sheen's brilliant turns as members of Volturi!

This is a fun movie with good additonal footage in the second disc!

I bought this product because I had seen the movie and was interested in the "behind the scene" details; this movie had lots of action and it appeared to be very taxing to make. The additional disc offered good footage of how the movie was made and what the actors endured. The movie itself was fun, action packed and sensual, well as sensual as a teenager vampire movie can get. I would highly recommend this product to anyone who was looking for a little more.Read full review...

Fine Fantasy for the Entire family.

The reason I would rate New Moon as Excellent, is not necessarily because of its script, or the acting, but because the Director Chris Wietz did a fantastic job translating the book into a movie. New Moon has wonderful cinematography, plush warm tones, and very convincing make up. The chemistry between the characters is brought to life because the cast itself is very tight nit family. The story is driven by a wonderful score composed by award winning composer Alexandre Desplat, who added an amazing mood and melancholy to the scenes. Overall, this sequel continues the much loved story of Edward and Bella, bringing fans closer to the world of Twilight.Read full review...
