Glenn Ford western, doesnt get better than this

I grew up watching Glenn Ford westerns with my parents.....Glenn Ford, the maverick, always cool, a little cocky, a little surly, sarcastic, and didn't waste a lot of words.....someone a real dude can relate to...This western is great, Edgar G. Robinson as the hard driven cattle baron, Barbara Stanwyck as the conniving, cheating, vixen wife, and Brian Keith as the brother / henchman. As you watch the action unfold, Glenn Ford does not back down but stands his ground, yet, he doesnt borrow trouble until trouble finds him, then with his hand forced, he fights. Happy ending, great movie!Read full review...

A forgotten Western from the Fifties

One of the series of “adult” westerns produced in the 1950s, this movie has got everything: three big stars (Glenn Ford, Barbara Stanwyck, Edw. G. Robinson), color and CinemaScope, surprising violence, and a tough, tight script.
Western fans will not be the only ones to enjoy this movie.

One of Glenn Ford's Best Western Movies

When Glenn Ford died recently I went on a search for a Western starring him that
I did not remember seeing in awhile or ever. I found it in "The Violent Men."
This is what the term classic western is all about. Glenn Ford adds his own unique
spin, as does Edward G. Robinson and Barbara Stanwick. There are two notable
gun fights in the movie, one in the middle...in a saloon and at the end...Ford vs.
Brian Keith...all of it appropriate and realistic for the times. I've watched the movie at least twice and the specific scenes I mention, many times. This movie belongs in a category that you well might give an annual screening to...I will!
