Very tastefully done and well-written!
The scenes in the movie, The Young Victoria, are tastefully done and the story is very well-written by Julian Fellows. Emily Blunt is an amazing Queen Victoria and Rupert Friend is perfect as Prince Albert. As for all of the other actors, they are superb in their roles as well! Two thumbs up for The Young Victoria!Read full review...

Young Victoria: Excellent film with historic roots
I first watched Young Victoria on a British Airways flight to London when it first released in Europe...and waited nearly a year for it to be available in the States so that my wife could see it. Both of us thoroughly enjoyed the movie the second time (and on a larger screen!).
The love story between Queen Victoria and Prince Albert was portrayed wonderfully. The heart and character of both Victoria and Albert were revealed in a fresh way. Oftentimes the images of Queen Victoria that I had in my mind were of an old somber lady dressed in black, with a stoic countenance. Those archaic pictures now have new meaning, having "witnessed" on screen the love relationship between Albert and Victoria in their youth; and now understanding the intense empty feeling the Queen must have experienced when her husband died, especially with her having grown up sheltered and protected from nearly all other meaningful relationships. The movie portrayed how Victoria truly loved Albert; the loss of that love must have devasted the Queeen when her Albert died of typhoid after only 20 years of marriage. No wonder the Queen wore black for the next 40 years of her reign. After watching the movie, my wife kept saying for the rest of the evening, "It is so sad they were married so few years together."
The scenery and sets in the movie were grand and completely appropriate for the era. The actors portrayed their roles splendidly.
We also appreciated that while a love story, it was rated PG, so that our kids can get a glance into history as well as enjoy the interesting story line. Young Victoria is certainly one of our favorite movies.Read full review...
Romantic true story
Very entertaining and romantic story of Queen Victoria and her beloved husband Albert. Emily Blunt was fantastic as Victoria. If you liked Rupert Friend's performance in Hit Man 47 or Homeland, you'll love his portrayal of Prince Albert.Read full review...

Accurate.
Excellent account of Queen Victoria and Albert's courtship. Engaging movie. I think the scene of Queen Victoria's attempted assassination shouldn't have been included, because it never happened. Although, there were several attempts throughout her life.Read full review...

Pipping good
Sweet-natured movie. Nice relief from Game of Thrones, Infinity Wars and the like. Emily Blunt is wonderful actress. And her prince was definitely charming.

Great Movie
If you like British history this is a wonderful light heartfelt movie on Queen Victoria. The love she truly had for her husband and how she turned the country around. One of the most famous monarchs in history. Highly recommend. Read full review...

Great entertainment- and history
Interesting narrative with beautiful filming especially in glorious Blue ray. Actors are believable and the story largely historically correct. Except of course, Victoria was nowhere near as beautiful as Emily Blunt!Read full review...

overall a worthwhile film
Wonderful film regarding the first years of Victoria's reign and the immediate time preceding it. I left the film wanting more. I wished i had seen more interaction of those early years with her children. I thought the casting was terrific! I really enjoyed the film, the acting but i walked away feeling somewhat disappointed wanting to know more of this time in her life...more of her personal life with their children and the political intrigues of that era.Read full review...
