Terrific family movie
I watched this movie as a child with my stepfather one night while my sisters were having a slumber party, and I will never forget it. It is brilliantly done with masterful puppetry that one expects from Jim Henson and Frank Oz. The digital upgrade really gives the story a vivid touch that compares with modern fantasy film. It is one of my favorites, and to further endorse, Jim Henson said it was the project of which he was the most proud.Read full review...
Jim Hanson is a real "gem" with this movie!
Arguably the best fantasy movie of the 80's. If you haven't seen it- you must! The movie is done with Jim's puppets throughout and done very well. Very colorful, very imaginative, very creative. This movie can be a bit frightening for a younger audience, but I feel teens would love it, and its really relaxing for adults. Kind of refreshing from the negative movies we get today.Read full review...
A childhood classic
This movie came out when I was a child. It was my favorite movie for years. It is a puppet (muppet) masterpiece. The storyline isn't feeble or overplayed like so many kids movies today. Jim Henson created a very exotic fantasy world that any child would love to visit. Adults will also like it since it doesn't play down to the audience. The puppet mastery brings the character dialogue to a level of realism that is easy for adults to appreciate. It has a lot of drama and some little ones might even get nightmares from the Skeksis. Once started, it is probably best to see it through to the end. After all, this is a Jim Henson production - of course it has a happy ending.Read full review...
