This book is a very straightforward and practical guide to learning the principals of investing. Although the main goal of the text is to lay out the foundation to successful value investing, it describes just as well the pitfalls of many other fad and speculative investing strategies. Not only are the dangers pointed out, they are compared to actual historical investment cases, many of which repeat themselves over time and are occuring as we speak. This book is an oldie, but Jason Zweig does an excellent job of bringing the information forward into the 2000's. Although his input ends around 2003, it is still pertinent now in 2010/2011. In fact, the ability to see the markets between then and now is of benefit as many of the warning certainly play out. You cannot go wrong reading this book, even if value investing isn't your style.
