The Complete First Season for the US!

Before the recent digital releases on Amazon, this was the only full season that was released on DVD in the US. All episodes use Ringo Starr's UK Narration, and all episodes are from the first seven books from the Reverend W. Awdry (save the last Christmas story). The picture and sound quality is greatly improved from the older VHS tapes, and the film's color are brighter and bolder, much like the artwork from the original books. I bought this for my four young grandsons. They LOVE Thomas and it is a special treat at Noni's house to watch a video. Thomas is always entertaining, holds their attention and has a good lesson to learn at the end of each story. Thomas & Friends - The Early Years DVD Collection

This is a great addition to any Thomas and Friends DVD collection. I found that by watching the early episodes, a lot of the foundation to the series is explained and set-up. Ringo Starr is a great narrator, this is a great DVD set. Some of the stories are the same as episodes that have been re-narrated by George Carlin or Alec Baldwin, but as a collection they all gel better than the random bits that one gets by watching Sprout or otherwise. Essential addition to your collection

In my opinion, Ringo Starr was the best narrator for the Thomas series. My son loves Thomas and can watch this same set of stories day after day without complaint. He loves the new ones as well, but he actually was introduced to Thomas with the early shows, so they are his favorite.Read full review...

Wonderful show for young kids!

I bought it because my 3..now 4 year old son was having a birthday and he LOVES Thomas. This pack has 3 dvds in it and is actually cute on the inside cover. We've been very pleased with it. Them more than me....the same Thomas shows over and over and over can get a bit tedious you know. 3 dvds in a pack helps that out a bit though.Read full review...

My son adores this movie set. It has all of his favorite trains, and great extras like games and sing along songs. The games in this movie set are easy enough for smaller children to play. It was a great purchase!Read full review...
