Genesis remains live on three sides

Three sides Lives is an interesting concert from 1982, the commercial age of Genesis. The band plays tracks from Abacab, Duke, Wind & Wuthering, And Then There Were Three and some material from old albums as Foxtrot, The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway and Nurserey Cryme.

For a real progressive fan like me, there are enjoyable material on CD2 like the excellent performance of In The Cage, One for the Wine, Fountain of Salmacis, and It/Watcher of the skies. CD 1 is OK for new era fans and there are good tracks like Abacab which is a different interpretation from the original track and Duchness.

In conclusion, a good album, recommended for fans but not indispensable in a prog rock collection.

love Genesis. this one is a gem. peak of the Collins era. Mama sold more but this one gives you all the long jams and Abacab stuff

A Good Addition to Any Genesis Collection

This is historically one of my personal favorites of Genesis live stuff (although Seconds Out is still tops on my list). But the bonus of this 1994 remaster is the "fourth live" side that replaced the goofy studio tracks that were on the original Three Sides Live album. These new live tracks on the fourth side are very good, and include some of the old art-rock Genesis that most of us cut our teeth on.

But I also find that the live versions of the Genesis pop hits, like Misunderstanding and Follow You, Follow Me, are much more palatable in the live versions on this CD than they ever were to me on radio or on the studio album. I always felt Genesis greatest strength was their live performances, and maybe that's why I like the hit songs better on Three Sides Live.

Whether your are an old die-hard Gabriel-era fan, or a pop-charts only fan, this CD will have something for you.Read full review...
