For the price it works better than I expected.

Works OK with a little practice. Not as good as a band saw but a lot less expensive.
Using a straight board for the guide and not moving it, cut both sides. That ensures they will be parallel. Angle the saw with a steep angle to get the side straight and don't tilt the tip inward. That leaves gouges.
I used a couple tanks of gas to get a 5 foot 6X6. A sharp chain will make life easier.
I used a table saw to get smaller and smooth pieces.
If the wood is green, you may have issues with the wood cracking or warping as it dries.
Picture is my first try.

To make square cuts takes set-up time

Quality of cuts will depend on the effort put in to set-up detail , checking squareness of your guide board will be critical. Also taking your time to pay attension to any play in guide as you cut. Using a piece of composite deck board provides a pretty straight cut while allowing the guide to glide freely as you work. Using a 2x6 or 2x8 at each end of the log at the start to attach guide board to may also help to ensure that first cut will provide a level surface to make the rest of your cuts from.Read full review...

Good product for occasional use.

This really works. It cuts as straight as a more expensive and elaborate Alaskan style sawmill. Cutting in the vertical position allows the chain oiler to work. Alaskan style mills don't let the chain oiler work because of the horizontal position. This mill does have the inconvenience of needing to move the 2x4 guide every cut, which is not as accurate as an Alaskan mill which can cut slab after slab pretty accurately. Best is to make first cut with this, when switch to Alaskan style sawmill. Better yet is to take the lumber to a mill or have a portable mill come to you because cutting lumber with a chainsaw is a lot of hard slow work and wears out your saw if you do much of it.Read full review...

surprisingly effective especially after a couple practice runs

Simple, well done piece. Doesn't produce furniture quality boards but who would expect that from a chainsaw? A bit of finesse and practice will go a long way to elevating quality of planks. Really amazed with how simple and effective. Used some standing dead and blow-downs to make some amazing hardwood boards. I could run through planer and get better final product but great as is for shooting table and cocktail tables around fire pit! KEEP CHAINSAW BLADE SHARP AND DON'T RUSH.Read full review...

Timber Tuff Chain Saw Cutting Guide Mill

Nice tool at a very reasonable cost! It's extremely hard to believe that china actually made a quality tool. Me and my husband can't count the number of times that china made a piece of junk and advertised it like it was top of the line quality. This Timber Tuff tool was made from thick gauge steel that's not likely to bend from the stresses of having a chainsaw bolted to it and being pushed down a guide rail. Would have given it 5 stars but like most anything else that china mass produces, the instructions are translated by chinese adolescent or in our situation there was no instructions.Read full review...

On the Cheap

For such an inexpensive mill you can't beat it. Set up your 2x6 right and have a sharp ripper chain and the Timber Tuff gives you a great straight cut. Easy to use. Watch a youtube video for first timers and you've got it made. Great tool!Read full review...

Great, does what it is made for

Cuts better than expected. I use this to get my first flat cut for my Alaskan mill.
I put it on a little ms 250 and works fine.
You will use a lot more fuel than expected and sharpen chain often.
Built tough and works.

Great little Lumber cutting guide

It does what it claims and it does it very well as long as your chain is sharp. Just make sure that the 2 by 4 or 2 x 6 that you use is straight and not twisted.
I would definitely buy it again.
