Not worth your time

As a first person shooter it is lacking in many important aspects. First and foremost all you see is your guns redical, no gun or arms. It feels like your just floating around through the game. Next is the terrible button layout, you have to go through 5 screens just to throw a granade! Don't buy this buy cod black ops 2, the best game ever made.Read full review...

Keep you head down and you might survive!

Playing this version after the Xbox version, one will be happy that you get a few new guns to choose. Being somewhat seasoned I choose to go the road less traveled! I went for the hardest setting possible, which means you make one simple mistake and you are starting over where your last save!

This FPS is just part of the story of a fictional Mexican civil war, but can be played without having to play the Xbox game. Utilize all of your assets and personal as best as possible without getting overwhelmed, but react quickly! One new feature in the Ghost Recon series is the cover mode, which takes some getting accustom. Know your objectives and choose your primary weapon well to utilize your strengths! Although not being able to choose an alternate side arm is a feature I miss having!

There are multiple angles you can use to engage the enemy during some missions and as I mentioned before the enemy will let you have it with one wrong move. During my trials and tribulations of completing the game in my frustration time after time of getting head shot forced me to step up my tactics!

Smoke & Fragmentation Grenades are at a maximum of four between resupply points so using them wisely is an understatement!

Personal weapon of choice is the MR-C LW that is exclusive to Xbox 360, since it has a 2x zoom camera scope for precision sniper shots, along with being able to go full automatic for laying down suppression fire, and being able to shoot around corners or while staying undercover! Using all ten magazines of 50 rounds of 5.56 x 25mm is very probable, but my second is the SR A550 armed with 5 12.7 x 99mm rounds per magazine, that are used for counter sniping! Head shoots through walls is always satisfying during extremely difficult missions! Only down side is that you get 55 total rounds.

Great test of alertness and situation awareness. Totally recommend playing part 2 to end the story and feel more at control with the ROV!

Nice but great!

Hard title to swallow given that Call of Duty 2 was such a hit, but I'm confident in saying that GRAW is the best 360 game to date.

The graphics inspire awe at every corner, and when such is the case the framerate typically suffers. This is not so in this game. Flying over entire cities with amazing quality on far off objects and you still get a steady 30 FPS at the least. Game play is amazing as well, coupling the intensity of a 3rd (or 1st) person shooter with a well crafted tactical aspect where commanding helecopters, tanks, and your fellow squad mates is as big a focus as your personal character.

The only things I can harp on are two minor animation defects that bug me. One, only characters that appear on your cross com (pre rendered stuff) have animation for speaking. All other in game characters have sound come out, but their lips don't move. Two, when reloading you watch as your character reaches up for the clip in his gun, reaches for a fresh one from his pocket, and sticks it in... but the clip in the gun never moves. They animated your characters movements but he never actually has a clip in his hand.

Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter Review

Tom Clancy and the boys from ubi-soft have done it again , only this time they have done it next gen. The x-box 360 has given ubi an awsome platform to work with. With it's crisp new next gen graphics and sound you really feel like your in the middle of the game. One More edition to the Ghost Recon line GRAW is by far the best it utilizes a duck and cover type game play where the player will have to be sneaky and cunning while useing all surroundings to hide and take cover during fire fights. GRAW has a plethra of weapons from close range pistols to long range sniper rifles giving a more in depth game play experience. Also GRAW enlists an awsome online play where you can go into online matches with friends and play against others in a number of different games . Or you could just go into x-box live alone and shoot it out . All in all GRAW is an awsome game and i would highly reccomend it to anyone , What will Tom Clancy and ubi soft come up with next.,Read full review...

Where'd everyone go?

The first Tom Clancy game to come to the Xbox 360 and it delivers the goods. The graphics are crisp, the sound is authentic and the gameplay is fairly solid. The makings of a great game. There were some problems though, most very minor but they were there. Aside from you, as Capt. Scott Mitchell, 3 other squad mates and an army of Mexican rebels, the huge Mexican city is completely devoid of people. Amazing as the visuals were, it just didn't feel right strolling through empty streets with the occasional parked car. It doesn't even look like it was evacuated, but more like everyone just...disappeared. The gameplay as mentioned was good but takes some getting used to. You'll constantly find yourself doing one thing while meaning to do another.

Like a lot of games, the A.I. (Artificial Intelligence) is important to us gamers. Make them too difficult or too easy and it's a problem. It seems developers have a rough time getting the algorithms right, meaning how the A.I. acts and reacts to their environment through a series of calculations. It seems that the bad guys here have amazing sight and aim. Don't be surprised if you're getting shot at and killed while prone from 2-3 blocks away. These guys rarely miss. This makes things extra hard when you can't heal yourself in the field of battle. Oddly enough if one of your team mates gets shot down, you can revive them with medical attention. Yet your team will not do the same for you. Your only hope is to find the rare supply box drop on the map. And it'll only heal you once, while at the same time your team won't take advantage of it at all. What gives?

Speaking of the supply box, which magically gets to it's location (there's no parachute to be found and no truck could have dropped it off considering it's a hot zone). This drop box also includes the option to switch weapons. Unfortunately these weapons are limited. There are but a handful of assault and sniper rifles to choose from and all are never available at any one time. Surprisingly no new handguns or grenades, ever. You're also givin the opportunity to switch out your team members at various points in the game. But honestly, unless you let them die (shame on you!) there's absolutely no point in doing so. Aside from having different names, they're all exactly the same.

You'll also notice that this game boils down to "Trial and Error". There are a lot of sequences in the game that will have you doing it over and over again due to the ramped up difficulty. Very frustrating considering there are no in game saves. The multiplayer is or rather "was" extremely fun, but considering Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 just came out, not many players will still be playing this in the months to come. So if multiplayer is what you're after I'd suggest picking up the second installment. All that aside, Advanced Warfighter is still an incredible game. It's just a matter of dealing with the minor annoyances.

Not quite next-gen graphics or gameplay but good.

So its been said that GRAW was the best looking next-gen game on the 360. Really? To me the graphics looked maybe 10% better than the Splinter Cell games on the current Xbox console but presented on a bigger level scale. The gameplay is definitly harder than your Halo or Black FPS but thats expected wtih this title. Not having civilians (of any kind or quantity) on screen screams 'not-quite-super-next-gen also. Plus unlike Splinter Cell games you also can't shoot out lights. Really? Can't shoot lights and yet your suppose to have super night-vision goggles. What good are these NV goggles if you have street light ilumination everywhere? Plus, I've never understood why in Ghost Recon games in first-person view you never have your gun in sight but only the aiming reticule. I guess there trying to make it more realistic but thats the problem with this game for one uber realistic thing they trade off another. No jumping button? Really? These are suppose to be super soldiers of the future but they can't jump and worst walk over certain street curbs or obstacles.

Good things: The voice acting is top-notch and surprisingly they even seem to recruited real Mexican actors to do the Mexican rebels voices. As oppsoed to what is commonly done in Hollywood to hire Spanish speaking actors who barely speak the language and are of Puertorican or Cuban accents. Mexico City looks great but again, 22 million inhabitants but not one sinlge civilian on the streets? Mulitplayer is a blast and looks great on-line. The solo campaign has its bright spots but it didn't engage me as much as I had anticpated. Overall its a smarter, more technical, slow paced FPS. I recommend it.

An old game that still deserves a playing

This is one of the first great games of the xbox 360, regarded as the best one when it was launched.
It is still a good game, I'm playing right now this one and Mass Effect 2. Mass effect has a much better story behind, and so it is more addictive, but GRAW works almost the same when we're looking to controls and playing fun. And it is much more cheaper. You can find one for less than 6 USD!
I prefer third person shooter than FPS because human vision is 180 degrees, so a FPS at a TV makes me feel like I'm sick or half blind. At TPS, a camera vision is limited, to me the sensation is better. Thus, GRAW is amazing as you have to hide and shoot, many different weapons to choose, control your team to help finish the enemies, use vehicles and tatical maps to achieve your goals.

I don't think it's as good as everyone thinks....

Let's remember peeps, that none of the games out for the 360 yet are taking full advantage of the 360's true power. That being said, I think this is a great game for fans of the Ghost Recon series, but people expecting a run & gun environment a la Halo should seek Quake 4. I agree that this game has awesome next-gen graphics, but isn't every game for the 360 going to have so-called "next-gen" graphics? Wait to halo 3 comes out, I am telling you it will abolish all. But, in the interest of not comparing apples to oranges, overall this is a good game, except it is hard. How hard? Stupid hard. So hard it allows you to use cheat codes in order to get Xbox 360 gamerscore achievements. Yea, it's like that. I think it's awesome that you can peek around corners and fire off pot shots. I think it's great that explosions look superb (especially on an HDTV. But I don't think it's great to have to be Superman to not get hit by "stray bullets" through walls? The story is somewhat able to keep your interest, but the ending (Don't worry, I won't spoil it.) (Well, maybe I will, Carlos Ontiveros dies and falls off a building very metrosexual-ish...)(Haha.)The ending is a little lame, and for a game obviously pointed towards an older crowd, is painstakingly able to somehow make you feel stupid for sitting through it. The cutscenes are shown in the ride to and from dropoffs in a helicopter, and are a bit lengthy. (I don't want to hear about the boss, I want to kill him.) I dunno, if you are a diehard fan of the series, then buy this, if you are a newcomer, rent it first, you'll probably beat by that time anyway.Read full review...

Best Game on the Xbox 360 yet! Simply Amazing...

I was a little sketchy getting this. Half of the people said it was too hard, the other half loved it. I for one, agree with the ones who loved it. The reason people say it is hard is because they aren't stratejic; you need to be strategic, decide where to place your men, taking cover, and protect. But that is what makes the game. It truly has shown me what a team does in the line of duty. Amazing.
The achievements are good, but some are too hard. Like being the #1 player in the world. I do believe achievements should be hard, but not that hard.
Online is so much fun, for download on the marketplace is the "Chapter 2" download for 1,200 microsoft points. I have not yet downloaded it yet but it comes with new maps, day/night settings for the new and current maps, new weapons, and new game types. When you go online, you will have a HARD TIME NOT FINDING A GAME, there are tons of people who play this and play clean not trash talk.
Overall, I give this a 9.8 out of 10. The game is amazing, and so far I LOVE IT MORE THAN CALL OF DUTY 2, the maps look so real, and it makes you really believe you are Ken Mitchell, you are a Advanced Warfighter.

Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter

I am a big time Ghost Recon fan as well as a big time First-person shooter fan. Although Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter is a revolutionary game in the way you move, command others, and everything else, I feel that it would be much better in first person view. Don't let this stop you from trying it. The game still has amazing qualities and it is a lot of fun (and challenging). I am about half-way through Single Player mode and it gets better each level.

I have not tried online play but I have played co-op(local) which is played in first person because of split screen. That was a lot of fun especially if you try to complete them with no respawns.

Overall I would suggest this game. If you are big on FPS games I would rent it first.

G.R.A.W

Definitly a challening game that gets as close to reality as ive ever seen in a video game before. GRAW is futuristic 3rd person shooter which takes place in mexico. the vast number of weapons and classes is also a plus in this game. The realism in this game makes the game more tactical than the typical run and gun shooters out there. Strategy, location, and use of teammates are just a few of the many things that make this one of the best on xbox games out there right now. with xbox live, the multiplayer is just as good, if not better. although there are some people who just play to "spawn camp" and get cheap kills, if u can avoid that it will be enjoyable online.Read full review...
