Great Little GPS Receiver

I have a Android smartphone and a 7" Android tablet that have built-in GPS. They work but take a long time to acquire satellite signals. I wanted a decent road navigation GPS and discovered that different companies make dedicated GPS receivers that communicate via Bluetooth to your phone or tablet. I did a web search for them and ran across this Tomtom unit for $22.99 and free shipping. Tomtom is one of the big names in GPS and for $23 how could I go wrong? If it didn't work with my phone I wouldn't be out that much money.

Well I am pleased to say that it works with my phone quite well. It was easy to pair with the phone and the GPS app I tried connected with it seamlessly. I am a happy camper.

I have wasted my money on this item!

This Tom Tom GPS unit may have been useful originally, but now, supplied with no relevant software, it is useless.

The software was supported by Tom Tom at first, but this product is now disowned by them and the Bluetooth SPP software is not available anywhere else that I can find. The item was delivered with no covering paperwork or advice as to its use. The TomTom Mk2 wireless Bluetooth in its form as delivered is of no value; if the seller can provide software it would be least they could do. I feel cheated! Read full review...

Easy Bluetooth gps

I use this on a Asus TF 101 Tablet running lolliepop 5.1.
This tablet is known for unusable GPS with the stock antenna.
I connected and paired to this via BT to the tablet. Downloaded a BT GPS app ( Anyone will do, just has to make a bridge for GPS BT. I used first one in google play store)
Fire up the BT app then my map app ( I use Waze) and it instantly locked on to sattlites and started working. With out this addaptor Waze would not work, It kept saying no GPS found.

I also tried it on my Samsung S5 and it worked great on there too.

GPS for tablets and computers

Though some tablets have built-in GPS receivers they have a shortcoming when not used in the open. That's where the GPS receiver with bluethooth comes in handy. The receiver can be placed in a good spot and delivers a solid signal.
The device comes with a chargers for the internal battery, one for 110V and one for 12V. An LED shows the charging status, i.e. the LED is on until the battery is fully charged. A second LED shows the bluetooth connection by blinking. Pairing and connecting the device is quick and easy and it takes no more than a minute.
On the Android tablet I use a GPS to Bluetooth app that serves the data to any app that needs them. The app also shows the satellite status.
The GPS receiver is switched on with a push button. There is no indication on how much battery charge is left. My tests, very simply done, show the battery can last for several hours though not for a whole day. In conclusion, I am quite satisfied with the receiver, it came fast, the price was good, and I recommend the device.

this does not work with an ipad

If you have an ipad buy another gps. this gps does not work with an ipad. you have to do a risky break into the ios system to make it work. It is possible when you break into the ios system that it will ruin your ipad and is NOT repairable. Not fixable. I am not going to try messing up a $500 dollar Ipad to use a 40 dollar gps. I have not tried it with my Windows computer. it may work, I hope so, otherwise it is a waste of money.Read full review...

External GPS Within Budget!

My tablet did not have an internal GPS, so I researched the price and availability of external modules. This unit is of respectable sensitivity and is an exceptional value. It connects to the tablet through a transitional application (Bluetooth GPS) to the Road Map software (Here) within a minute or so. The battery charges within four hours and maintains a charge in excess of six hours (my longest trip so far.). I had a question for Customer Service and received a response within a few hours. So, it is a good product, good price, and good support (five stars!).Read full review...

Works with LG G5 LS992 Android v7

Took me a while to get the GPS to work with the phone because I had to download another app (Bluetooth GPS v1.3.7) and setup the phone to use the app as a mock GPS location (under Developer options: Select mock location app). The thing is that you have to keep [LOCATION], [BLUETOOTH], and [DATA] all on for WAZE to work, but WOW! it works better than any phone based GPS. The TomTom unit has an internal battery and sometimes can take as long as 5min to lock on to GPS location. It usually only takes 30sec to 1min to get 2-meter GPS location solid. I found out that if you download your google map at any mobile wifi hot-spot you can use Google-Maps to navigate without a working cellular connection. It is a good tool for UBER and LIFT drivers that need accurate GPS all the time. The newer GPS units are faster, but not no more reliable than this unit. I tested in downtown Chicago and areas where my phone would get no GPS signal (lower wacker drive) This TomTom unit worked well. I give it 80/100 because of the really long initial setup connection. All and all a grate value for only $23.Read full review...

GPS on my Amazon Fire 8 HD tablet

Fire 8 HD tablet doesn't have GPS but wanted to use in my Jeep. Tethering GPS from phone to tablet didn't seem to work well, but this does. On start up is slow to acquire satellite lock, usually 5-10 min, but after it gets lock it tracks really well. Had to use the app called Bluetooth GPS Provider on the tablet. Set mock location to Bluetooth GPS Provider, in the app preferences, set the GPS Connect Method to Secure and the GPS Type to SiRF.Read full review...

Not compatable with IPod touch

After days of trying I have found this GPS is not compatable with my IPod. The IPod can't detect it in the Bluetooth settings. Apple tech I chatted with for an hour gave up and said to return the gps. Internet says it has to be 'jailbroken' but not to do that if you are not knowledgeable in what you are doing. I did get it to work with my cheap android phone.Read full review...

Great for "remote" GPS to tablet

Works well. I've Bluetooth linked it to a tablet that doesn't have a GPS chip. What's good is that I can then place the TomTom easily in sight of GPS satellites and then have my tablet anywhere within range.Read full review...
