Ken Russel's over the top interpitation of Pete Townsend's masterpiece !

Ken Russel is one of my favorite directors. That disclosed, there is noting very negative to say regarding the over all film. I saw this when it premiered at The Ziegfield in NYC. I came out with my ears ringing due to their incredible sound system. Speakers were added for the showing of the film.

Ann Margret is enjoyable, playful and plays a bit of a tramp, a far cry from her clean cut teenager in Bye, Bye Birdy. Oliver Reed never really acts in this or any of his films. He plays Oliver Reed.

Rodger Daltrey really doesn't do much acting. He was and is, a rock performer. It was great seeing Keith Moon alive and well, and so entertaining.

In short, if you enjoyed the rock opera, and have the opportunity to purchase this film at a good price, get it. FYI though he get's no credit on the outside package credits, if "Tommy's" dad looks familiar to you, he should. He played Jesus in Zefferelli's multi parted "Jesus of Nazerath."

Opera

It's a bloody opera mates. Pete Townsend was at his best writing this. People actually sing and carry a tune in this, not that rap crap you've dummed down to. See me feel me touch me. Iconoclastic pin ball wizardry. I urge all people under 30 to see it!!!!Read full review

Really excellent trippy movie

If you like great classic rock 'n roll (the Who and a few others) and a really trippy, extremely visual rock opera with a deep spiritual message, this one is for you!!

The Who's Tommy review

Interesting and a symbol of music from the past. An acquired taste when it comes to music and rock operas in general. Worth experiencing at least once.

The Who ; Tommy

Throw back into the seventies when the Who, Tina Turner, Elton John were still young and cogent to the generation. Of course the music. Especially enjoy Eric Clapton and the other cameos in the film.

A good movie better on blu-ray.

It's good to see this movie on Blu-ray. Lots of colors and sites and good music. I miss this movie when it first out so I'm happy to have it on Blu-ray now.
