Tonerider TRS5 Surfari Pickups
I really like the Surfari pickups. I mainly play blues, blues rock, and classic rock and they have a nice "open" sound. They sound isn't muffled or choked and they have character. Also, these pickups have some oomph. They aren't wimpy ! Maybe it's the alnico 3 magnets ?
Even just going straight into the amp they sound inspiring and make me want to play The Wind Cries Mary. But with a low gain setting on the amp and a low gain setting on an overdrive pedal I'm a very happy camper.
I recommend these pickups because they : are built well, have staggered pole pieces, the coils are taped for protection, they have vintage style push back leads, they come with covers, screws, and tubing, the price is right, and they sound great !Read full review...

Beautiful upgrade for a MIM Strat.
Put the pickups from a 2004 American Standard Strat in my '95 MIM Strat. (This MIM is a Corona parts, assembled in Mexico guitar). They never had what I think of as the "Strat quack"!. Listened to hundreds of replacement pickups on YouTube and read twice as many reviews! Finally I went with the TRS 5 set. Now this MIM sounds as good as ANY vintage American Strat. The neck pickup is a powerful as the mid and bridge - and very usable ... much better than the MIM or USA stock Strat ups. Don't let the "Surfari" moniker fool you...these can be as mellow as 50's Strat pickups, just a bit louder because of Alnico magnets!Read full review...
