Don't Skimp! Get the OEM for less hassle and save the headache
TLDR: Use only the OEM Mopar part for the engine compartment light.
My original equipment light on my Dodge Charger stopped working a while back, and I replaced the bulb. Still nothing. Fixed the wiring harness. Still no light. I had another one of these light assemblies for my Ram 1500 truck and it lit up fine (but was going to be used in my truck; see my other review).
So I made an error in judgement: I ordered the D*rm*n branded one for half the price. Mistake! First problem is that the bulb is SOLDERED into the mount, so when it dies, the whole assembly has to be changed out. And, the switch to trigger the light doesn't work at the angle of the Dodge Charger hood when open. It only turns on at a nearly 90˚ angle, so it was useless. To its credit, it did light up.
My original was dead, and my repaired wiring harness now worked, but I had no light again. So I ordered the OEM Mopar light to make it quick and easy.
So, if you want to avoid a hassle and a waste of $10, avoid the D*rm*n brand replacement and only use the original equipment part.Read full review...

Great Under hood Light
After watching several installation videos, this whole install took less than 30 minutes. The hardest part was removing the hood insulation body clips, but this came with replacement body clips so no worry if I broke any removing the body clips. Great item but factory could have put the zip ties in with the instead of premounting the zip ties to the wire harness. The zip ties were not in the correct location making it so the wiring could have gotten pinched causing an electrical short. The zip ties had to be moved in order to get the wiring to sit the proper way it was supposed to.Read full review...
