If you own a ps3 and love RPGs then get this game!

A combination of RPG mixed with strategy, how can you beat that? There has not been a game that has come out with this unique blend of story telling and turn based strategy since final fantasy tactics.

You play as a tank commander for the local militia and use turn based strategy to put your troops in position to take out the enemy. You actually point and aim the individual weapons!

I cannot believe that I haven't played or heard of this game until recently. If you can find this game you should immediately get your hands on a copy. This game is simply AMAZING!

the perfect blend

There is so much I could say about this game, but theres no need, All you really need to know is this game is a fantastic blend of strategy, role playing, and third person shooter(kinda) and just makes a very very great game you cant go wrong with, the only downside i can think of is that i wish they had an online way to play because it would be simple to do I would think and I know it would work very well, no matter this games single player is good enough to make up for it, I say if you have a PS3 get this game prices have gone down so theres no excuse to not try this game out nowRead full review...

A great game for young and old

As a baby boomer, I have trouble completing games requiring lighting-fast reflexes. I like games with a decent storyline that make you think. Valkyria Chronicles tells a classic story with strong emotional appeal while simultaneously providing a tactical battle simulation requiring more thought than finger-twitching. Adults of any age and older children will find something to love about this game (while no blood is ever shown, the battle sequences and some cutscenes might be too intense for children under eight). Battles come in many forms, but all can be won whether you like playing fast and risky or with stately deliberation; there is no one strategy for winning most fights. The story is mythic, heartwarming, wrenching and triumphant--sometimes all at once--and before long you become attached to the main characters. That attachment makes later battles even more emotionally engaging, since you often find yourself putting a character you care about in harm's way. Finish the game once and you can play through again, keeping your experience levels and acquired weapons but facing more and tougher opponents on a variety of battlefields. I expect to keep playing Valkyria Chronicles for some time to come.Read full review...

All around great game!

This game was a great experience all around. The story line is good based around a WWII's feel with ideology and a love story in the background. The graphics were whimsical is the best way I could described it, but smooth and just great to look at. Game play was also great, it's a strategy rpg so prepare for some turn based combat with a mix of skill tree based upgrades. All around a great game, a definite buy in my book.Read full review...

Excellent Game

I bought this game for my brother but as I watched him play I knew exactly why he loved it so much. The game's very unique. It's all about strategy and making you think with each move you make and your opponent makes. Something like chess but way more fun. I also liked the story and how each character's personality affected their performance. For example, there was this guy who loved women, and whenever he was around them his stats would boost. I found that to be very funny and fun. I rate this an excellent game because it gets you involved with the game and each different character there is. Is nothing different from the real world. In order for your team to work, everyone's got to like each other. I think this game shows a great initiative at how teamwork should be.Read full review...

Beautiful game!

I watched the anime of this game awhile ago, decided bought this game and this game a try.
I am surprised because this Game offer such a great depths into its storyline and its background music is really captivating.

I have to say that this game is one may be the best strategy game available for PS3, up until this moment (though one may want to disagree with me)

Pros:
It has beautiful soundtrack and background music,
Great storyline.
the images and pictures of the game is beautifully drawn.
Dual voice option.

Cons:
Loading back and forth for storyline continuation is a bit drag.
Some English subs were translated strangely (thus causing a new expression/word were added and made up).
One mission may take more than 1 hour to finish.
Hard to obtain an 'A' Grade.

DLC available - 4.99/ea in PS Store
1 Extra Hard Mode and 2 Extra story

A military strategy RPG with a new view

Beyond Disgaea 3, there aren't a lot of strategy RPG's for the PS3 out right now. Valkyria Chronicles changes that with something new. Rather than depend on the traditional SRPG scheme of a grid or a free-roaming isometric perspective, Valkyria Profile mixes elements of Final Fantasy 12's real-time battling in the 3rd person with a turn-based mode on top of it. Difficult to describe, but fun to play; the demo on the PSN store does the game justice.Read full review...
