This Power Grab Never Felt So Tense Yet So COOL!

Based on an assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler which actually happened on July 20th, 1994, this film engulfs the viewer with action, wonderful scenery, and a believable storyline and character-base to boot.

Before long, we discover that that Colonel Claus Von Stauffenberg (Tom Cruise) becomes the number one man to be responsible for taking Hitler out of power by plotting an assassination with many other Germans (Officers, Lower ranking Soldiers, and other Politicals) wishing to regain power from the hands of the Feurher.

The tippie-toeing that went on in this film really makes you feel the nervous tension as lies and deceit become second nature. After a botched plan perpetrated earlier, Von Stauffenburg is called into the plans and given a very close position in Hitler's Army.

Project VALKYRIE becomes the main way for the Emergency Army to maintain and keep control if something were to happen to Hitler, thus the SS would be taken out of the formula, thus staging a very slick Coo.

The bombing attempt on Hitler failed, thus foiling the plotters plans of quickly taking power by any means necessary, but soon lose power as their plans backfire on them. Cruise plays a convincing Von Stauffenberg. Additional cast members are Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Tom Wilkinson, and Terence Stamp.

This incredible story unravels with excellent harmony and wonderful cinematography. This is based on historic fact and moves very quickly. We seldom feel that anyone really wanted to punish those who took part in the coo, however, that's what happens in Love and War. Nearly 5,000 Germans were soon arrested and executed after this occurrence.

I'll give this a 5/5 for excellent portrayal of true story.

Valkyrie - Remembering the Past

Tom Cruise (Top Gun, Mission Impossible) stars as Colonel Claus von Stauffenberg, a decorated war hero of the Third Reich who is convinced the only way to save Germany and her people is to remove Hitler from power.

The Movies all-star cast includes: Kenneth Branagh, Bill Nighy, Carice van Houten, Eddie Izzard, Terence Stamp & Tom Wilkinson.

The movie tells the true story of how high ranking Officers used Valkyrie to attempt to change the German government after the assassination attempt on Adolf Hitler July 20, 1944.

The movie is fast paced and full of action, the story is mostly accurate with some liberties taken to enhance the drama but overall it sticks to the facts.

I recommend this to anyone who needs a refresher course on the history of WWII.

this was a very good movie considering all the crap that the movie industry has become in the past 25 years.
here i find a film that was filmed without the camera panning all over the place for no reason and wild cuts every two seconds. but one thing was so frustrating whoever mixed the tracks on this film was a total moron i could not understand alot of the dialoge because the speacial effects and music track dominated which made it almost impossible to comprehend what the actors were saying. most of the film i had to watch this movie with the english subtitles on. just to mention i have a very high end hifi system with vacum tubes and no matter what i did to try to equalize the audio it did not help at all. i ran parts of it for several friend and asked what did tom cruise say or anyother of the actors the reply was i was correct.
its amazing in todays electronic wonderworld and the fact that they have been making films since 1927 and 2010 its total garbage with idiots in the movie industry who know nothing about their craft. very sad.
whats even more frustrating that the audience of today dont even notice it for the most part. AN INTERESTING FILM IF YOU COULD UNDERSTAND IT.Read full review...

A fine film on an assassination plot towards Hitler

A great movie that deals with one of the many assassination attempts on Adolf Hitler. When they made this movie they used a lot of information that was found after the war that detailed how this went down and they tried to be as faithful to the source materials they were using as they could. The movie I thought was great and just showed that Hitlers own cabinet members could not even tolerate the stuff that he was doing during his tenure as head of Germany.Read full review...

a glance at history?

i am not a big tom cruise fan at all,but this movie was really good.you may already know the plot.it was about one man and a band of others who wanted to overthrow the german government and try make a treaty with the allies in world war 2.and this movie is about that.i think it has a superb cast.it was a damn good movie.it has bill nighy who played in the underworld movies as the head vampire.he acted really well in this as well.good stuff!!!!Read full review...
