Great image quality, but keep it cool!

This is the third Viewsonic I've had experience with, and the second of this model. The reason for multiples is my church uses it for directing the service on Sundays, and unfortunately, the person(s) who setup/breakdown the equipment each week did not wait for the "Temp" light to go off after use. The overheating resulted in micro-mirror failures in the form of white/black dots (i.e. failed pixels). I got this latest one on eBay from a good refurbisher (because Viewsonic said they no longer support or repair this model) and have finally trained my church folks to let the fan do its work. Lots of these more inexpensive DLP projectors use heat sensitive chips and are packed so compactly so as to make the cooling process difficult. Let's hope this one lasts...Read full review...

Viewsonic DHPJ551D DLP PROJECTOR

This is an all around good projector. It has a bright picture even with moderate lighting on, it is easy to operate and adjust plus performs effortlessly. I would recommend it to anyone looking for a projector for work, for presentations or home theater. The only downside is that it has RCA Jacks and no HDMI so many of my HD devices have to plug into my Receiver then out the RCA Monitor out to connect with my projector. Other than that it's a good buy for the price!Read full review...

Great projector for small room.

Needed a basic projector for our conference room in the church.
Haven't even tried it out yet -- but I'm expecting this will do the trick.

Just remember folks: when brightness is an issue, you'll want something with high numbers in the Lumens AND the Contrast Ratio.

If you want to see anything on screen properly when the lights are turned on, you better hit at least 1500 in both areas (Lumens & Contrast Ratio).
