A remarkable legacy of the rabid wolverine!

Throughout the history of professional wrestling, there have been many great superstars that have set new standards for all of the action that takes place in the ring. Several of these individuals are noted for feats of strength, high ariel manuevers and endless charisma and energy. However, there stands at the top of this list one name which is synonymous with all of these aforementioned attributes - Chris Benoit. Originating from the Canadian province of Edmonton, Alberta, he has become a legendary figure in the sports world with a very special style all his own. This 2-disc DVD release, "Hard Knocks", showcases the unbelievable abilities of this multi-talented in-ring dynamo. The story traces his humble beginnings in Canada, where he trained in Stu Hart's dungeon in Calgary, thus perfecting his craft. Sharpening his skills in Japan, he soon gained success as part of the ECW roster. This eventually took him to new heights in WCW. But, it was his transition to the WWE in January 2000 that he finally became world-reknowned. Enduring a severe neck injury, he returned in 2002 where his greatest success lie ahead. This DVD features 15 classic matches in their entirety, including 3 from Japan making their American debut. The bouts chronicle his time in ECW, WCW and WWE, leading up to his main event at Wrestlemania XX, where he was crowned as the World Heavyweight Champion. However, my own personal favorite match was at the 2003 Royal Rumble against Kurt Angle for the WWE Championship; a match that could have easily headlined Wrestlemania. The story also has comments from Benoit's family, friends and fellow wrestlers. This ranks as one of the finest WWE Home Video DVD releases ever produced, and includes over 4 hours of exclusive DVD extras. Chris Benoit might not have been as large as some other wrestlers, but he certainly made his mark as perhaps the greatest technical competitor of all time.Read full review...

Good Documentry featuring interviews and tons of matches

Its a good chronicle of Benoits life up until his 2004 Wrestlemania win. Many interviews with his parents, childhood friends, as well as Dean Malenko and Eddie Gurerro. Considering the circumstances surrounding his death that occured 3yrs after this was released, Its safe to say it will never be in print again by WWE. If you were a fan of his wrestling skills and ability, its a wonderful buy.Read full review...

A Great Biography on Benoit!

I wish that the WWE would follow this format on all their DVDs. The story of Benoit flows much like the recent releases of Bret Hart, Dusty Rhodes and Jake Roberts. The feature presentation starts off with the story of the person behind one of the great technical wrestlers of all time. You'll get to hear Benoit tell you about growing up, going through school and becoming a wrestler and then his life/career in this business. It's great hearing the story told straight from the mouth of Benoit, because he gives you great details and personal comments/feelings that only he can give - and this adds a great deal to his story. The entire career of Benoit is covered here, from his days in Japan to WCW to the WWE. The extras feature tid bits, but mainly matches....also covering his entire career. You'll see matches from Japan, WCW and the WWE, as well as a couple indy events. The match selection is great and any fan of Benoit while find this perfect. If you don't like Benoit and have qualms about getting this or watching it, I will tell you that I don't like him...but this DVD kept me entertained thoroughly. This is one of the best WWE DVDs out there.Read full review...

Rare item

Since that incedent WWE has blocked Chris Benoit. This is a rare DVD because it is out of print. My copy came in very good condition despite being 2nd hand. The matches are pretty good. Worth a watch if you have time.Read full review...

Chris Benoit story DVD

Due to the tragic end to his life and his family, this DVD pretty much becomes a sort of tribute to his life and career. Benoit was one of the greatest wrestlers who's ever reached the top of the WWE. His matches were art in motion, something only a few can achieve. There's a lot of stuff we as fans don't always see what goes on behind the curtains in wrestling, or nearly any part of the entertainment industry. Chris Benoit will probably never get inducted into the wrestling hall of fame because of how his life ended. This is probably the last packaged collection of his life and career to ever be released. If you can get a copy, do it. You won't regret it. Highly entertaining with some good stuff from his years in Japan, early ECW, WCW and finally WWE. If you collect Canadian wrestling DVDs, you'll need this one. Highly recomendedRead full review...

Hard Knocks

This was a good documentary of a fantastic wrestler. It was created well before his death so no mention is made.
Although it is still somewhat in character, it gives a good showing of Chris' life and break into pro-wrestling.
Good selection of matches. Most are excelent, one in particular (vs. Kevin Sullivan) should have been left locked up somewhere with the rest of the trash WCW made.
All-in-all, I would rate this movie a B / B+ and a good buy for any Benoit fan.
