I have groomed my dogs for well over 30 yrs. when people and vet sees them they think they have been professionally groomed. The wahl clippers give a smooth cut and I don't worry that they will catch the skin and cut the dog. I have other wahl clippers besides this one and I would give it a 5 if I didn't need to clear it so frequently -but I do have dogs that attain very long to the floor hair. I have used other brands, but prefer the wahl brand. ( about the long hair, if you are fairly new to grooming your dog, use the scissors first to remove the excess hair to make using clippers easier.) lastly, this is a nice set.Read full review...

There's something wrong
I unpacked the wahl dog clippers they felt good in my hand, and looked sturdy, I read the instructions, and oiled the blades etc. I turned them on and the noise was so loud I wouldn't like my hair cut with these let alone a dog with sensitive hearing. Because they came all the way from England I thought I would get the dog used to hearing the noise, and turned them on. After not even 30 seconds, smoke came from the hand piece. Wahl dog clippers are a great product and great price.
This product worked so well. I have 3 dogs and live in Florida. 2 of my dogs hair is medium length but for Florida is is extremely uncomfortable for them. This clippers worked well. I had to clear them because my dog's fur kept getting stuck in the guards (not sure if this is normal). It wasn't able to just glide through his fur but with a brush or two I was able to with fair ease. My dog was calm, the clippers not noisy. Great product! I've never used clippers, but these were so easy to use. I was able to cut all her fur in less than 6 minutes (she's only 7 lbs) and the cut came out pretty good for my first time. All round happy with this purchase.
These clippers cut through a thick, matted coat on a large dog with no problem. Did have to stop and let them cool down once, but we all needed a break by then anyway. The dog is a border collie/lab mix with a double coat so thick she could be a sled dog in the arctic. The noise was low so after the initial shock of the buzzing sound, she didn't fight it. The absolute worst pair of clippers I’ve ever tried!
Brand new and cannot cut through medium length hair on my Maltese who has very fine hair, is extremely loud to the point where it’s alarming how loud and vibrates excessively. I cannot imagine these clippers working on anyone’s hair and honestly feel ripped off. Thankfully I saved my old clippers until I order a new pair that hopefully actually works properly. Couldn't be happier.
I was worried about purchasing one of these cheaper home trimmers and performing the task myself, but now I couldn't be happier.
Facts:
I have no trimmer operation knowledge before this.
I own a Toy Poodle so the hair is pretty thick and tough to work with.
Pros:
#Saves money over getting someone else to do it.
#Dog is much more comfortable with her owner cutting her hair than a stranger.
#Surprisingly quiet. My dog hates hair dryers, vacuum, and most other electronics, but she didn't mind the noise from this.
#The accessories are nice. The comb isn't as cheap as I expected and the sissors are sharp. I am not sure what the mirror would be used for, does your dog need to see how his/her hair looks?
#The cutting part is pretty quick, depending on the size of your dog. Mine was done in under 15 minutes, however see the time user in the cons below.
Cons:
#Hair prepping is quite time consuming. Wash, brush, rewash, re-brush. This is of course necessary to make sure the trimmer doesn't get caught in your dogs hair. The amount of prepare work you would have to do depends on your dogs hair.
#I don't think that I will ever have the skill of a professional groomer. Even if I did I don't think this performs as well as an expensive commercial grade trimmer.
Recommendation:
#Save some money and buy this. The only thing you will really be losing is the hair cuts might not look as good as they use to. Many people have been around my dog and not noticed, I kind of doubt your friend/family are dog judges too.
#Have treats ready to give your dog during the evolution. There is a reason why the professionals do this and you should to. It make the whole thing go smoother.
#Routinely washing and brushing you dogs hair will help with the prep work. Also cutting your dogs hair more often will make the prep and cutting go easier.Read full review...
