Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit

Wallace and Gromit and their creator Nick Park need no introduction. With their three shorts 'A grand day out', "The wrong trousers" and "A close shave' they've won hearts of everyone around the globe. With all three films winning countless awards, including 2 oscars, and accolades worldwide, Wallace & Gromit has become a global phenomenon. Not to mention here the rare distinction Nick Park enjoys of being the only animator ever whose 2 films("Creature Comforts" and "A grand day out") were nominated in the same category, same year(1991) for the best short film oscar, so he could take home only one for his groundbreaking masterpiece "Creature Comforts'. With his exceptional talent in the painstaking art of claymation, Nick Park has taken stop motion to newer heights with "Creature Comforts', "Wallace & Gromit' and his first feature film "Chicken Run".

"Wallace & Gromit:Curse of the wererabbit" is the highly anticipated first full length feature involving Wallace and his brainy canine companion Gromit. Its a dream come true for all the fans around the world who have been expecting their favourite characters on silver screen for a long time.

In "Curse of the wererabbit", a vegetable guzzling "monster' is on the verge of spoiling the giant vegetable competition organised by Lady Tottington and only wallace and gromit can save the day now. Nick Park has remained faithful to the characterisations and followed the same trend which w&g is known for. New adventure, few more amazing inventions, more new characters, new circumstances, more suspense but same old British flavour, feel and charm...W&G first feature is surely a winner. Those familiar with "King Kong", "Jaws" and other Hitchcock films will enjoy the spoof and occasional references more!

Wallace & Gromit will be out on dvd on Feb7 with these extra features:

1. English & French DD5.1 Surround
2. English & Spanish DD2.0 Stereo
3. English SDH, English, French and Spanish subtitles
4. Cracking Commentary - Audio commentary with director/writer Steve Box and director/writer Nick Park
5. Deleted Scenes with optional commentary
6. How Wallace & Gromit Went To Hollywood - Learn how Wallace & Gromit grew from the imagination of Nick Park and became Academy Award winning stars.
7. Behind the Scenes of 'The Curse of the Were-Rabbit' - Enjoy a rare look into how these lovable characters were brought to life.
8. A Day in the Life at Aardman - Experience a day of production at the famed Aardman Studios as seen through the eyes of a crewperson.
9. How to Build a Bunny - A unique look at how the clay bunny models were assembled using time-lapse photos.
10. Stage Fright - View this award-winning short film with an insightful commentary by its creator, Steve Box.
11. The Family Album - Colourful production stills of the elaborate sets and meticulous character development.
12. Dreamworks Kids - A variety of fun-filled, engaging interactive games and creative activities.

Looks like a great disc, with all those awesome extras, including the commentary track by the legendary Nick Park!!

In the time of CGI and computer graphics, With "Curse of the wererabbit", Nick Park has proved once again that audience respond to things made with heart and soul. This is where Nick Park's clay models and Hayao Miyazaki's hand drawn animation scores way over CGI. "Wallace & Gromit:Curse of the wererabbit" is undoubtedly one of the most heartfelt and charming films ever made.

Wallace & Gromit: Giggles Galore!

It wouldn't be fair to start this review without admitting I'm a whole-hearted fan. Nick Park's wild imaginiative creatures captured my heart the first time I saw them in "Wrong Trousers".

One of the things that makes them so loveable, is their clumsy but well meaning hearts of gold. Wallace, an inventor is upstaged by his incredibly clever pooch, Gromit. In this film, the two run "Anti-pest-o" humane pest control.

Things are going swimmingly until Wallace decides they could solve their storage problem (they've been keeping all the bunnies they rid people of...) by brainwahing the bunnies to dislike vegetables. That's when everything goes awry!

Suddenly a giant Were-Rabbit threatens the towns Giant Veggie contest and Wallace's new-found romance. The best part of any Wallace and Grommit adventure are the kooky inventions of Wallace (think Chitty Chitty Bang Bang here)and this adventure is no different.

There's plenty of extras to check out on the DVD as well, including deleted scenes and the story of how Wallace and Gromit grew from Frank Parks imaginiation into the stars they are today.

These hand-crafted clay figures may takes years to film, but only moments to capture your heart!

You'll love this one.

A Sure Family Favorite!

I 1st saw this style of semi-animated film in "Chicken Run". I found it amusing with a heartwarming & entertaining story & the hilarious clay figured characters. I wasn't sure I would like anymore of it though until someone lent me a copy of Wererabbit. Having never seen Wallace & Gromit before, I hoped I'd be able to follow it & found this to be wonderfully true! You don't need to have ever seen any other Wallace & Gromit feature to appreciate this film.

Wallace is a rather scatterbrained man who runs his own humane pest control company, but the real brains of the outfit is his silent dog Gromit. There seems to be a minor plague of rabbits invading their town's many vegetable garden right before the harvest fair. This keeps Wallace & Gromit very busy, but they soon find their pens filled with rabbits. Their solution is to try to brainwash Rabbits into disliking vegetables. In a Frankensteinish experiment gone wrong, they create the Wererabbit, a huge monstrous rabbit that goes on a rampage in the town each night. Attempts to capture the beast are useless as Gromit turns super sleuth to try & solve the mystery.

The clay characters are cool, amusing, amazing & fun for young & old alike as is the story line. There are plenty of gags to keep everyone entertained. Some may get a little lost in the "Britishesque" lingo & slang, but it is not too far over the top. Despite the spooky inferences of the title, this is not too scary for even the youngest children to enjoy. A true 'for the whole family' movie that everyone can enjoy!

Funny Clay Animation Movie for All Ages

This movie is great for all ages, especially for young kids and parents to watch together. The movie's main characters are Wallace and his dog, Gromit. Together they have their own humane pest control company, Anti-Pesto. Wallace has created all sorts of inventions. The scenes with his invention to get him to breakfast and his suction machine are the funniest in my opinion. His inventions include a sophisiticated security system to protect his clients vegetables, but can he protect them from the Were Rabbit that has started to damage all their vegetables before the festival. His big rabbit trap, which literally is a giant lady rabbit controlled by Gromit, is one of his attempts to capture it. There are some great twists to this movie that make it interesting all the way to the end. I love this movie not only because it has a good flowing plot and great humor, but also because the clay animation is done extremely well allowing you to realize how much work went into making this full length movie.Read full review...

We’re cool with were rabbit

My grandson was obsessed with this British kids movie. It’s got humor and slapstick kind that kids love. I also didn’t get bored watching it. eBay was the only place we could find it.

What a wonderful movie!

i was looking for a movie for our "movie night" and when i looked on the imdb website, it listed Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit really high. I found a copy off ebay for super cheap and once it came, we were ready!

I loved it! My daughter loved it! A totally cute, funny movie that you can enjoy with the whole family! Just a wee bit of violence that might scare the smallest of kids but my 8yr old loved it.

It's a tale about 2 "exterminators" who humanely dispose of the pests they catch. But they take "humane" to the extreme and adopt all the rabbits they catch! But, what to do with all the rabbits when your house is full of them!! Mix in a little Frankensteins monster and BAM! A hilarious tale!

W&G are great together.

Replacing DVR choices with actual DVD or bluray frees up DVR space. W&G are great together. Just look for scratches on the playing surface. If clear, they are pretty much guaranteed to work well. If scratches are present play it thru to see if the movie hangs up. If it does, hang up. Request Refund.Read full review...

I haven't watched this movie yet. It's a gift for my great grandchildren (twins) who will turn 1 on Dec. 1. I have seen other movies with Wallace and Gromit & they were funny. My grandchildren watched them over & over. Now the next generation can enjoy these two characters. Read full review...
