The best of the klones
This is my second Tumnus, and I still have the first. This is not the best overdrive going, nor is it transparent if you run the gain above 9 o'clock, but it is a very good pedal if used as a slightly dirty colored boost to push a tube amp or another pedal. I will say this. The paint on this V2 is much better than my V1. Otherwise they sound the same. Be aware this is more transparent than most klones and originals as it has a little extra bottom end, but understand that at high gain settings this circuit actually cuts more highs and lows than a standard green overdrive, and it does have a mid push like the green thing except it's pushed at a slightly lower frequency. The green pedal is centered more ideally for mid push for a guitar. This one is more transparent if and only if you remember to keep the gain at 1 o'clock or lower. I've also noticed that this type of pedal really does work better set well above unity gain through a wide open tube amp.Read full review...
