Great value for a ton of storage space.

Overall a great external hard drive for those looking to expand storage capacity. I will be testing it again soon for speed of access for large video files to be used in a professional editor. Setup is quick and easy, was easily recognized by the computer system. If you have multiple drives on your computer, like me, then you will find that you have to do each one individually. Waiting to see if the scheduler will actually backup all of them as I set it up. Even if it doesn't, several gigabytes of information per hard drive was easily stored on the WD My Book. Great value as well. I couldn't find 4Tb of external storage cheaper any where else.Read full review...

My Book books it slowly but...

The WD My Book is a solid HDD. It's easy to format and has solid security features. However, I recommend buying a Micro-B to USB -C to help improve the somewhat sluggish pace the My Book can sometimes display.Read full review...

Bought as expansion for Xbox One

I reviewed all I could find on Xbox One expansion hard drives, and this one was rated very high. I found it brand new from a vendor here on ebay for a very good price. After receiving I hooked it up, plugged it in with the included cord, and formatted it (the Xbox One gives you the option when you plug it in and go to Settings) it. It was said in the research I did to actually operate faster than the internal memory of the Xbox One. I haven't used all that much, only for the Imperial City expansion of Elder Scrolls Online, but I will say that loading those parts is at least 3 times faster than anything stored on the internal hard disk. If you are looking for a good Xbox One expansion drive for you or your kids this is the best way to go, and it is HUGE, so you can fit a lot of games on it! Read full review...

Great value if you buy refurbished.

I saved 25 dollars off the retail price by buying refurbished. the drive is check to factory spec, wand then shipped to you with new cable and power supply in a plain brown box. Western DIgital is one of the leading hard drive manufacturers so you wont have any problems there, and in the off chance you do they will honor their full warranty on refurbished drives.Read full review...

Easy to use file backup system and excellent for offline data storage and retrieval.

The Western Digital "My Book" is a nice peace of hardware to own. Many times I have ran out of disk space and had to delete unimportant file to make room, but I have a large capacity drive that handle my large files. I would recommend this product to all of my friends.

Best Backup Plan For The Buck!

Bought this unit refurb from Ebay for $59 ... Best piece of security decision I made .. 4TB is more than I need but the price was better than that of unit with considerably less space ... the design is rather sleek and looks good on my desktop ... and its exceptionally quiet..I only see the light blinking during transfer which seem to be fairly quick .. I have no problem trusting a refurb .. its nothing but a new unit that had to be repaired ... in other words, new units go bad to (-: I definitely would recommend itRead full review...

Seems to be a good drive.

Working as advertised thus far. I didn't open it up to see what model drive was inside - my last WD 2 tb external hard drive died in a relatively short period of use (about 3 years of minimal use for backups only). When I opened that one up it had a WD Green drive inside, a drive well known for problems and discontinued by WD because of the failure rate.Read full review...

My data is priceless, and I treat it so. I use two, echh backing up the other.

As a photographer/videographer I generate as many as 200 photos and/or an hour or more of video daily. I back up from each source to several computers which are networked. i then back up the network to two "My Book" drives in separate locations and different power circuits. They, in turn aate backed up on my Cloud as further protection. Read full review...

My new 4 TB external hard disk drive

Hi, I bought this's external hard disk drive because my other hard device was running out of space. After careful research snd consideration I finally decided on the western digital external hard drive due to its form factor and price point per gigabyte... I still have not had the opportunity to use it yet, but am confident that 4 TB should suffice...Read full review...
