Older Hard Drives with High Demand and High Cost
These drives worked great. They were Brand New never used. I formatted them and installed on various Apple iBooks, Powerbooks, and other older models. These drives are excellent and have great storage capacity but in the end they are not worth purchasing. They are older and probably not manufactured anymore. They cost way more than smaller, faster, more modern drives and it can be difficult to find a good price on them.
If you do manage to find a good price you can give an older computer a new lease on life. With a Western Digital Hard Drive you get extended storage space and confidence in a name brand product. Great drive with lots of storage.
This drive really brought this old notebook computer to life. It is fast and quiet and easy to replace. I recommend this product to those who need to get more life out of their computer and it easily extended the storage well beyond the 40 gig drive that went bad. Some said that this size drive wouldn't work on this old computer (Dell Inspiron 6000)but it worked flawlessly on windows 7. Great value for your money ! Good product !
Purchased this hard disk drive as a replacement for a Toshiba Satellite P25-S520 notebook. The original hard disk drive failed and a replacement HDD with the same storage size (80GB) as the original, cost the same as a (160GB) that was available on eBay. Needless to say, bought the Western Digital Scorpio Blue WD1600BEVE HDD (160GB twice the capacity as original) and installed the drive with no issues. Performed a SMART test on the drive with no issues noted. Just an added note, Be careful when installing notebook IDE hard drives. The IDE connector on the hard drive has exposed pins. Be careful not to bend the pins and re-install adapter and pin jumpers if required and provided with original hard drive. Also, being that replacement drive was new but dated, was able to update warranty through Western Digital Support. I have experience with other Western Digital hard drives and I am very satisfied with their products.Read full review...
Reliable Hard Drive
I have owned several western digital hard drives. I bought this WDScorpio WD1600BEVE to replace a laptop HD. This is actually my second purchase for this particular brand and model. I am very happy to have this product
Good size for compact laptop and low power usage for long battery life. This unit has enough storage for all my programs and even quite a few pictures and media files.
A good brand, a good drive
Western Digital makes pretty decent drives. I abuse my notebook drive a lot by installing various linuxes on it all the time and this one has taken to it like a champ. It's stable, and if you buy used you're buying well. Just remember to wipe before you sell or you're selling your data!Read full review...
Number one value in hard drives.
This hard drive works exceptionaly well. It is fast, smoothe and quiet. It is a cost effictive product that I would highly recomend. I refurbish laptops and desktops to donate to children whom their parents cannot afford for them. When I have to invest in a hard drive I always choose Western Digital. Expand drive capacity economically with this laptop upgrade
I was fortunate to buy this drive at auction below most advertised drives at higher prices. My dated Dell Inspiron begged for an update and this drive met the need nicely. It worked perfectly after receiving cloned content from the old drive. Installation was a breeze and the drive passed all of its stress tests. Dependable hard drives
WD Scorpio series are certainly dependable hard drives. They are well built and will last forever. There is not much really to say about these, more than they are an excellent choice to consider.
