Downhill Quality

Needing only a replacement for a failed spring in my storm door mortise set, I ordered a Wright replacement for the entire unit. Such is the nature of American retailing in the 21st century. Unable to find an exact match to what was on our door, I ordered a different, but acceptable looking lever handle model.

Cuts in quality were easily evident when examining the parts. Most everything is smaller, and design changes were to accommodate cost, rather than quality. The handle, which looks nice in photographs, proved to be so unbelievably uncomfortable in the hand, that my wife and I agreed to replace them with the old lever handles.

Mortise and lock set

Good product, but be careful.

Yes to all the Q's above, but...

It wasn't a perfect fit and took me (a pretty handy DYI 'er) about 4 1/2 hours to modify my storm door and finally get everything to align. Make sure you have a good set of drill bits, and bastard files, especially round ones!!! I put lots of needless holes in the storm door. Read full review...

Replaced an original Larson lockset which had a worn out spring. The new one has a much stronger spring, which I lke. All of the original Larson handles can still be used.
