Not excellent, but good of course - By Player 37

As game based on movie, like others, this game shows that somethings could be better...
But still a good game.
The bad points are: Wolverine could have more moves (it causes the repetitive that other people mentions), he have a short types of hitting moves. Nightcrawler too, but he have the teleport what is fun.
The movie scenes are in 2D, but they do a good job with it.
Well, the good points:
-The Graphics are excellent, the heroes too (like the actors in the movie)
-The Story is good, between the second and the third X-men movie, now the sentinels are the big problem.
-The option of 3 heroes is ok, one type of game for each one - Wolverine takes the front attack (and wild attack), Nichtcrawler the stealth and strategic attack, and Iceman the aerial attack.
(you need some time to learn how to control better each one, Iceman stages are hard, but with the upgrades things will be earier)
- Upgrades with some options for you can make your heroes better as you like.
- The musics, based on movie stile, are good.
- And here you can found the true voices of Hugh Jackman (wolverine), Patrick Stewart (prof Xavier), and some more.
- Some missions you can call a help (or be called for help) by Storm and Colossus.
- In the movie Nightcrawler had a little time to show his abillities, here we can see and prove what he can do.

Good, but definitely not perfect

I must say, I enjoyed this game. It was quite fun. However, the gameplay does get quite repetitive. You can't unlock new abilities, just make ones that you already have slightly better. Occasionally, I found myself bored with the game, but not for the majority of the time.

It was nice to finally be able to see Iceman in action, and riding along the paths of ice that he creates was quite fun. I think out of the 3 playable characters, his levels had the most variety. However, I got the biggest kick out of playing as Nightcrawler. His teleportation attacks were quite awesome.

Wolverine, on the other hand, was the least fun to play as, and he definitely had the least original style of gameplay. Unfortunately, you play as him for more time than the other two characters. Another problem was the cutscenes. Obviously, very little time was put into them. I know that the creators of this game were trying to give them a comic-book feel, but really, they were absolutely terrible. Another problem was the fact that only 3 characters were playable. Sure, you fight alongside other X-Men like Colossus and Storm, but it would have been nice if you could play as them.

Once again, the game was fun, but somewhat repetitive. If you're looking for some great Nightcrawler or Iceman action, you should try out this game. If you're wanting to play as Wolverine, you'll find lots of him here, but I would instead recommend that you play X2: Wolverine's Revenge, which was, from the Wolverine aspect of things, a ton funner. If you're looking for a more comic book-y look, try Ultimate Spider-Man, X-Men Legends, or X-Men Legends II: Rise of Apocalypse, three games that were a ton funner even than this one. Lastly, if you're just looking to play as X-Men other than Wolverine, Nightcrawler, and Iceman, I also recommend the X-Men Legends games, or even Marvel: Ultimate Alliance.Read full review...

Good but not Great

I have been a huge X-men fan for as long as I could remember...so I bought the game. It did explain things in a comic-like way as to what happened after X-2, though I didn't much care for the explanation. Graphics and gameplay were great. The game was challenging, but much too short. Also wished there would have been more characters other than the three you play with. Though, Wolverine pretty much takes the cake for this game. He seems to be the character you plan the most of. But Nightcrawler was an excellent character, allowing you to do things with his character never before done in other games. Would not recommend for younger gamers due to some of the story line, though most of it has to do with inner demons. Unless you seriously enjoy it, you may want to rent this one first.Read full review...

I originally bought this game for my husband who is at basic training with the Army, but my 4 1/2 year old decided he wanted to play it and loves it. It's easier enough for a younger player, but interesting enough and challenging enough for the older players.Read full review...

Could've been better

This game was dissappointing when I first played it. I like the story, but the graphics aren't any better than X2 Wolverine's Revenge. The story is good. The cutscenes are well done but they use comic images with the actors voives and not animation. X-Men The Official Game PS 2

I bought this for my grandson to play at my home, he really loves the game!!! He is a big fan of Wolverine and of X-men he has the figures he plays with at home.

Great game.... gruesome, but great! Lots of action!!

Many charachters, lots of different scenes, great graphics, and good background music. A very good game, but for older people, would not reccomend for anyone under 18. Very very gruesome.
