Old Software OK for the price

Paid about $9 shipped, had to download the installer and updates, but runs good on my machine. Graphics are dated compared to the X-Plane 10 demo, but slightly better than FSX Steam.

Seems to do a better job with the plane then FSS. Running it with a MS Sidewinder joystick (no pedals) and I'm satisfied with the aircraft response. But I've been mainly flying a 172, so low demand.

Former pilot, and what I enjoyed most about flying was the scenery from the air, and none of these are that good, but you can't realistically expect real realism. 8-)Read full review...

X-Plane 9 Ultra, Very Good Flight Sim for Apple PowerMac G5 systems

X-Plane 9 Ultra is a great Flight Simulator, especially on the older Apple PowerMac G5 platform!

I run it on a PowerMac G5 Dual 2.0 GHz, with a Radeon 9800XT 256MB VRAM; everything works smooth and flawless. A joystick is recommended for a better flight sim experience, The Flight Yoke from CH Products provides a superior Flight Training Experience!

Though I have never tried it, the program supports advanced trainer/student interactivity and emergency practice setups; plus instrument training experience, and the chance to "Design" and "Test Fly" some classic and high performance planes.

This is the non-commercial version, and newer versions are even more incredible and realistic; but this is a very good simulation, very stable and smooth, and you will be nicely surprised at what vintage Mac hardware from 2004 can deliver!

Good Game

It's a pretty good game. It is novel to have flocks of birds and deer crossing your runway. Water textures are amazing. The real earth mapping is nicely detailed. Some of the detail on airports is messed up- there are taxiway lights and/or windsocks in the middle of runways and water textures run up into the mountains making it look like HUGE waterfalls or liquid mountains. I wish all aircraft had virtual cockpits. I can't believe the Vans RV series of Aircraft aren't even painted. Still, the realism in other areas is amazing. I like the game. I switched to an iMac because of the obvious problems inherent with PC's, namely viruses and crashes. I'm glad there is this game for my iMac.Read full review...

As Good as Fight Simulator?

The bottom line is yes and no. The graphics are outstanding and superior to FS 2004 even on a similar or slightly inferior computer. The quality of the aircraft is not. Microsoft has better control of what aircraft is used (this also limits the number and type) but they all function in a similar way and everything that works on one works on all. The cockpits work and look the same so it is easy to move from one to the other within a type i.e. all airliners work the same and all general aviation work the same. There is also more information about the aircraft in Microsoft and how to fly them. The mapping on Microsoft is also superior in that it is easier to use, but the way it works on X-Plane is more realistic and looks better. Wish the disc would load

Price was right but the disc does not work in my Mac even tho it is the Mac version. Sort of a waste of money.

X-Plane 9 for Mac

The graphics are stunning, and on my LED monitor are simply beautiful. Yet another reason I kick myself for hanging around with Windoze and MS Flight Simulator for so long. Don't get me wrong, MS FS X was a good product, easily the best of the series and I have owned several versions. However, X-Plane 9 looks stunning, is easy to fly, fun and with options such as the Wi-Fly app on the iPhone to control flight on X-Plane 9, simply leaves MS FS for dead. Emphasis on Realism

The detail is better than I imagined. I didn't really begin to enjoy it until I got a joystick. I would prefer more from the manual. The ability to download different planes is very appealing. I took flying lessons 25 years ago and this is a way to fly without the cost involved and without endangering the rest of the world.Read full review...

X-Plane 9 (Mac Games)

This sim is going to take a lot of getting used to, but it is incredibly realistic. The cockpit view is almost surreral. Taking off is fun, but landing so far has amounted to crashes. Did not come with all disks

I received disks 1, 3, 5, 6. The disks are also highly scratched. Complete garbage.
