A good choice for a smaller space, bedroom, etc if one doesn't want to buy high end. Would recommend purchase.
Considering modest purchase price, the receiver produces good fidelity with tuner and CD. I have not used Bluetooth. However, I tried both my old phono turntable and then bought a new one with same results, which were reduced fidelity and low volume audio even with the receiver at maximum volume. If it needs some type of pre-amp., the specs and manual do not indicate it.

Not that pleased with it.
I did a lot of research looking for a good 2 channel receiver. I found someone had said they were surprised how far they had to turn up the volume before you can hear anything and weird as that sounds its true. aside from the volume the sound quality is subpar. I grew up on Sansui Receivers, so maybe I got spoiled but I also had pioneer and kenwood that had better sound. I would not recommend this receiver. Read full review...

5 stars for Yamaha and their RS202 receiver. Got this to replace the RS201 unit so I could have Bluetooth and the updated version. Paired with Polk Audio 50's and 2 tower speakers the sound is fantastic..Perfect sound imaging with a detailed clarity that rivals the high prices audiophile units. Bluetooth is as clear as CD's although the bass is a little strong and you"ll need to tweek it down some. Had to get rid of my 1993 Stereo
I really needed a bluetooth system & Yamaha has always had a good name regarding music. Easy hook up & program. Bluetooth has about a 30 foot range which I wish was farther but works for the price. I have 7 speakers hooked up to it & there isn't much tweaking the sound other than bass level, treble, & fade. Left or right. The quality is clear & sounds great. I would reccomend this. Beats on a budget: The R-S202.
Got the R-S202 to power an old 2.1system. I run bookshelf speakers from speaker selection A and the sub from selection B. The unit allows you to play each selection independently or together. For the price, this unit sounds very good. Bluetooth
