A hidden diamond

Having seen this film on TCM, I wanted to see if it was available on eBay...and to my delight...it was! This movie should be seen by all classic movie fans, not just for the list of stars in it, but because it's wonderfully written as well. Gary Cooper leads the cast in a story about a Naval crew tasked with operating an experimental steam-powered vessel...with all sorts of mishaps along the way. Watch for a young Eddie Albert, as well as a younger Jack Webb...I highly recommend this movie...it'll remind you of the way movies used to be made...no special effects, no exploding anything...just great writing and acting!Read full review...

I never heard of this movie before I ordered it. It was fun to watch and i enjoyed seeing the navy ships from the period the movie was made, it should make a good family night movie

Funny!

This is one of those little films you have probably never seen that you need to. An absolutely first rate cast in a well written nicely photographed strongly directed film that is interesting and funny. A crew of '90 day wonders' and inexperienced sailors are thrown onto a small warship with an experimental engine and ordered to make it work during the Second World War. This is a great movie. It addresses a serious subject in a humorous way. Fun for all ages and a portal back in time. If you had friends or relatives in WW 2 you'll love it.
