Yu Yu Hakusho Tournament Tactics

I play this game on my Nintendo DS Lite. I bought it because I love the Yu Yu Hakusho series and the characters. For a fan, this game does not disappoint. You end up with all of the main characters (except Botan and Keiko) as options to train and fight with. From the pool of options, each round lets you choose five fighters to compete.

Some people don't like tactics games, but I feel that this one is really easy to grasp and laid back which makes it fun. You can repeat any of the levels as many times as you wish, and you can save at any point. Each level has your team at once position of a map while the monsters are scattered throughout. Your job is to move closer to the monsters each turn to get close enough to kill them before they kill you. You can only move a few squares per turn, but as your levels increase you can increase your movement, which gives you a wider range of options. The characters also get more and more powerful moves, such as Yusuke's Spirit Shotgun and Hiei's Dragon of the Darkness Flame.

Overall I really like this game. It's not a super exciting one, but it kept me entertained on a flight and in a long car ride. The most fun about it is just being able to use these beloved characters and relive some of the best moments in the series.Read full review...

Pleasantly Surprised

Yu Yu Hakusho: Tournament Tactics for the gameboy advance was a spontaneous buy for me. Typically, with anime-based video games, the production quality is very low. They count primarily on the name to carry the sales of the game. Fortunately for Yu Yu Hakusho: Tournament Tactics, this was not the case. If you love turn-based strategy games, you should definitely check this one out. It is one of the best, over-looked turn-based strategies for the GBA. This is a great game even if you never watched the anime, it's a great tactics game with very nice graphics and cool characters. That said, in order to full enjoyment I recommend watching the anime series, which is in my opinion one of the best anime series ever.Read full review...
