It's a cult classic that I couldn't find on U Tube or Netflix, so this was the only way to see it again.

Zardoz is about the weirdest and worst thought of movie made back in the day. Some love it, it has a cult following, some hate it, they think it's the worst movie ever made. Love it or hate it, it's a bizaar romp back to the strange days that were the 1970's. Personally, having seen it back then and, well, having also having grown up in those times, I had to see it again. There is a Message if you read between the lines.Read full review...

Weirdness exemplified... Awesomeness as well.

If you've never experienced Zardoz.... You will be shocked at the incredible audacity of the weirdness in this film. John Boorman was given complete freedom to make this film however he wanted... And it's just amazing. If you appreciate and like unusual films... This will not disappoint.
I love it because it IS so strange.

An interesting take on a future world

I'm told this was Sean Connery's second movie project after his James Bond movies, so I felt I had to see it. It shows a novel picture of a post-apocalyptic society, but according to the limited viewing window the movie offers, it looks like only about a hundred people were populating earth at that time. Budget and length-of-movie constraints, I suppose. This glimpse of a future society was certainly entertaining, but limited in scope.Read full review...

Suddenly the future doesn't look quite as far away as it did when this was made. It's just that now they want to use "chips". Interesting concept.

An excellent, overlooked sci-fi classic

How can anyone find fault with a film whose opening lines, spoken by a giant, floating stone head, are, "THE GUN IS GOOD. THE PENIS IS EVIL"? Actually, the prologue opening lines come from another floating head, that of the genetecist-magician Arthur Friend who sets the theme for this high-minded, loopy, slightly indulgent and very satisfying work of social science fiction. Any meathead who thinks The Matrix is thinking people's sci fi needs to watch this movie. Sean Connery is great, Charlotte Rampling is as always superb, and the opening sequences that wordlessly depict Connery's infiltration of the cloistered utopia are cinematically brilliant, never underestimating the audience's intelligence and desire to ask questions. John Boorman is just a great director!Read full review...

An excellent Sci Fi starring Sean Connery

This Science Fiction tour de force examines the sort of utopian ideals that have always been with us but were especially popular during the 70's and reveals the dystopian reality underneath. After an unspecified disaster of our own making dooms humanity and the Earth a handful of scientists and thinkers retreat behind impenetrable shields to develop their distorted vision of the ultimate human society. What they end up with resembles, to an extent, the future vision of H.G. Wells "Time Machine". However these advanced humans are much more appealing yet more insidious than Well's evil and odious Morlocks. Having achieved immortality in a society virtually free of strife (at least on the surface) many find themselves longing for death. A death they eventually must engineer themselves with Connery as the seemingly unknowing agent. The twist at the end, however, is brilliant and the message clear. Be careful what you wish for... you just might get it! This movie is an example of top flight Science Fiction that makes you think.Read full review...

Not too bad! (kinda)

if i could only use one word to review this movie it would be "crazy". its like New Barbarians meets A Clockwork Orange meets Clash of the Titans meets Planet of the Apes! i loved the fist hour of this flick, and tolerated the rest. dont get me wrong, its not like the last half was doodoo, it was just overshadowed by the first half.Read full review...
