Zorro the Gay Blade

Campy and funny. George Hamilton is wonderful in his dual role. The dialogue is witty and clever. Don't miss a word. Wonderful musical score (by Korngold, I believe). Visually beautiful. Zorro rides again! I bought it to replace my old VHS tape. This is a video to play when you need cheering up. It never fails to bring laughter. I think this is perhaps George Hamilton's best film and performance. Everyone gives outstanding performances. Good triumphs over evil in an unexpected way.Read full review...

My Absolute Favorite Comedy of All Time!

A comedy released in 1981 that has a way of making adults laugh hysterically, and making small children erupt into giggle fits. My family watched our first copy to death, memorized every word, and STILL thought it was the funniest movie ever made.
Then one day, Dad lent our copy to a co-worker. About a week later, that co-worker said apologetically, "I'm sorry. I'm going to have to replace your copy of 'Zorro the Gay Blade'." Dad asked, "Why? Did the tape break?" His co-worker answered, "No... My kids watched it, and now they won't let me give it back."

Zorro Rides Again...Sidesaddle?

The movie is over 20 years old and hard to find...but very much worth the search. George Hamilton is very good at poking fun at himself and takin on roles that are toungue-in-cheek humor rather than the racious humor out there today. I watched this with my family (13, 14, 16) and everyone had a good time without worrying about some 4-letter bomb falling out or a gratuatous sex scene popping up...this is the second one of these movies I have bought.Read full review...

Just as good as it was when it came out years ago. Splendid

Most people don't remember this whimsical movie. It's a great comedy. The material sometimes get a little stupid, but it's part of the fun watching Zoro's other half take over. Just halarious with his different color outfits, the way he makes a mockery of the Akalday. Just a lot of fun to watch. I guess it's a rare commodity, because the collectors price has gone up. It's worth the money though. A crisp clear picture. I'll watch it over and over again.Read full review...

George Hamilton is amazing in this film

George Hamilton can do anything! First, he has to do a Spaniard's accent as Zorro. then a flaming gay British Sailor's accent. Then the gay sailor trying to do the Spaniard's accent when he has to temporarily take over for Zorro while he heals from an injury. Hamilton pulls this off Hilariously and in good fun.
Just one of Hamilton's many great performances.

A very funny comedy you'd forgotten about

I just recently thought of adding this movie to my DVD collection. It is one of the funniest films I know of and an interesting twist on the Zorro "superhero" franchise.

Don't let the "Gay Blade" title or "premise" throw you off - making you think this glorifies gays or really has anything "questionable" - it is risque, but very careful in it's presentation of cross dressing.Read full review...

Awesome movie! George Hamilton at his comedic best.

I remember watching "Zorro, The Gay Blade" when it first aired on cable TV back in the 80's. It was so campy and funny. George Hamilton was so suave and charming, and yet so incredibly goofy in his portrayal of both Don Diego Vega, a daring, romantic swashbuckler, and his rather flamboyant British twin brother Ramone. Sons of the original Zorro, the brothers are brought together to help rid Old Los Angeles from an evil tyrant played brilliantly by Rob Leibman. I have searched for years to buy a copy of this film. And now I have finally found it.Read full review...

Top silly comedy!!!!

Their movie is at the top of my all-time favorite comedies. It is a silly farce that makes me laugh out loud every time I watch it.
George Hamilton is perfect, handsome and silly. The writing is so quick and loaded with humor that you have to listen to hear all of the jokes.Read full review...

Zorro The Gay Blade

Finally out on DVD. This movie is hilariously funny. George Hamilton does an excellent job playing dual roles. I saw this years ago when it first came out and have sought it on DVD for a long time. Well worth the money invested.Read full review...
