Another fine Peterson Guide
1 of 1 found this helpful I was raised in the same Jamestown NY neighborhood that Roger Tory Peterson called his home, and began my love of the outdoors in the same "100 Acre Lot" as he. This property was a city park on the edge of our little town and was frequented by many, many local kids on warm summer days (including a young Lucille Ball!)
The tradition of sharing accurate and precise information about our natural world which began there continues today in the many Guides published under the Peterson banner, and inspired by Roger's technique. Author of Animal Tracks, Olaus Murie, is well traveled and one look at the book shows a level of detail and expertise that one can depend on to discern the spoor of a Fisher from that of a Marten, and many more. For the beginning tracker, the lessons in this book are numerous! Buy it, read and and GET OUT! Out into the wild that is...you won't be disaapointed. And if you ever have a chance to visit Western NY please make time to visit the Peterson Center, located on Curtis St Extension, in the woodlot he loved as a boy and just a few hundred yards from the little park that started his marvelous journey.
