Kuhn Rikon Epicurean Garlic Press 6.75-in. 1 Kuhn Rikon

Garlic Cloves Tremble like Quivering Bowls of Jello
I bought the Kuhn Rikon garlic press for a female, non weight lifting, middle aged friend. She'd previously owned a Rosle garlic press and a Susi (both Swiss design as is the Kuhn). The Rosle literally fell apart after a few months of average non-commercial kitchen use. The Susi is one of the old style aluminum presses that begins to look battleship grey after a few runs through the dishwasher and needs to be cleaned with a street sweeper. The Kuhn is a great press for the money. It's ergonomic and the handles have a satin finish that improves grip. The top handle is curved to fit your palm. It's made of heavy duty stainless steel that should last for decades of home use. It mauls garlic cloves with ease. You won't be able to clean it with a quick rinse but the sieve lifts up to make it much easier to clean than it's predecessors. A dishwasher is a hostile environment for steel utensils but it's been through a few cycles (upper rack) and the finish hasn't pitted or dulled. It's not perfect but it will keep the old Susi in the back of the drawer.
