This transfer of this great performance is just horrible sounding!
I purchased these CDs and was shocked at how horrible this transfer of this great performance sounds. Don't waste your money. The restoration on Immortal Performances CDs is the only one to own.

Possibly the finest recording of the Mass in B minor ever made.
This is a much better performance with far better sound than Robert Shaw's Telarc recording. It was recorded by RCA Red Seal's great recording engineer, John Crawford, in the Manhattan Center immediately after the return of these forces from weeks of touring the Mass in B minor. The singing and playing, by some of the era's finest singers and musicians, is both passionate and precise.
