The State Belt- SF waterfront railroad
A very good book on the State Belt railroad of California that became the San Francisco Belt Railroad. Filled with lots of photographs of the railroad when under state and private operations for this waterfront short line railroad. The book gives a good perspective on how the waterfront went from industrial to tourist for the Port of San Francisco.

A trip back into the forests
If you are curious about the shortline railroads that handled lumber in northern California, you will find a great resource in this book. It provides information on the creation and demise of these bygone railroads along with photos of the locomotives and equipment. An entertaining trip back to what once was in the forest industry.

Thums up for Roundhouse L&C HO boxcar
A really nice car, with the insignia (logo) done in good definition. I recommend the Roundhouse version over the Bachmann because of the detail, although the model does not have as much weight. The Roundhouse L&C car is also more accurate regarding the original car's weight compared to the original number. The Bachmann car should have a 100,000 pound weight as opposed to the 80,000 pound listed, or had a different car number.
A problem I have with Bachmann cars is when given a spray to make the car look more weathered, the decals can run. This is not a problem with the Roundhouse L&C boxcar.
