    Career Spanning and Comprehensive
If you are a hard core Sprongsteen fan you probably have most or all of these songs. But if you are like many of us part of your collection is on vinyl, if you want a CD to listen to in the car or the like, this is a good choice. Though there are many great album cuts and lesser hits that might deserve a place in a larger collection. For the casual fan or anyone wanting to know why he is considered to be among the greatest of his generation, this is a great starting point. After hearing this new fans will want to explore more deeply. There are many good places to start building a collection, given the broad scope and duration of Springsteen's career. This CD can give the new fan an idea of which phase of his career to explore next. Rest assured there are no wrong turns when exploring Springsteen's extensive musical catalogue.

A Movie Musical? After "Live and Let Die"
Next to "Thrillington", the LP, this CD, the VHS and DVD that accompanied it are among the most overlooked gems in a very long, uneven career. The premise, semi-autobiographical, but played for drama and whimsy, has McCartney in the lead role going up against music thieves hoping to pirate his next album! (Anyone else remember when the Beatles shut down the Apple Boutique and the Saville Row studio?) Sadly, despite the newly discovered Tracy Ulman and a crackerjack cast of actors and musicians, it is clear that Paul is once again in a little over his head in his movie-making efforts. Sorry, Sir Paul, close, but no Oscar or even a BAFTA, not even a banana! As a movie this probably deserves some sort of Rotten Tomato award. But as brilliantly daft musical fun its McCartney through and through. McCartney's dead level best, earnest and sincere, he tried more on this project than several others around this period; projects that were self-indulgent junk or had McCartney 'phoning it in', not giving his best effort knowing he'd sell millions anyway. As for the quality and value of any particular individual CD, I'd have to see it in person to reliably estimate its true value. But the offer I see at the moment seems not unreasonable.
