Zoom MS-50G - MultiStomp Multi Guitar Effect Pedal MS50G
May 11, 2020
Awesome digital multi-effects pedal. Sturdy, tooons of options, really great value overall.
This is a very capable multi-effects pedal. Although all the effects are digital, most of them work surprisingly well, particularly the modulation effects. Things like chorus, reverb, delay, and EQ are very effective. Can you get better sounds from more specific, standalone analog pedals? Sure, but the fact that you get so many options in such a small, sturdy package is hard to beat. I'd recommend this for beginner to intermediate guitarists looking to try out a ton of effects before investing in some of the more expensive effects out there. Honestly would work in more professional boards for players who just want to keep clutter down while still having access to a lot of options. I also like how it has the option for stereo output, so you can take full advantage of the stereo effects, or even hook up a headphone amp and use this is a little amp modeler! Yes, it has a handful of emulated amps to choose from. They aren't necessarily amazing, but they sound better than I expected. I will say the some of the distortions/overdrives on this sound a little "plastic" to my hears (you can squeeze a bit more out of them with the EQ, but definitely not a real tube screamer or heavy drive pedal). They aren't as bad as some people say though, that's for sure.
AKG K361 Over-Ear, Closed-Back, Foldable Studio Headphones PROAUDIOSTAR

Great set of headphones for the price!
I've tried numerous different headphones in this price range and above, and I have to say I'm pretty impressed with these. They sound excellent, plenty of detail and clarity, while retaining a decent amount of bass and even a bit of sub-bass. These are not "bass-head" headphones by any means though, and people who are very accustomed to the overly bassy headphones for the common consumer market will probably find these too lean on bass. They are light and comfortable, though a tad tight on the head (for me at least). Luckily, the cushions are "cushy" enough to where its not really an issue. Build quality seems good, although they seem to be mostly plastic - to be expected in this price range for the most part. Big fan of the removable cord. Pleasant enough for music listening, and revealing enough for studio applications. I've been using them for a sound mix for a short film I'm working on, and they're performing well.
AKG P170 Small Diaphragm Condenser Microphone Drum Instrument Pencil Mic

Simply unprecedented quality for the price.
Simply unprecedented quality for the price. Is it perfect? No, but again, for the price, I can't think of a better small diaphragm condenser microphone. Easily beats out the Samson C02, that thing has a terrible noise floor, the AKG P170 has not shown any perceivable noise, even at moderate-high gain levels. Works well for voices (a bit lacking in low end, but still very good for most voice tones), and works well for instruments (that's what it's made for). There are better microphones out there, and if you have a higher budget, I would recommend you look for something a bit nicer, but at this price it's hard to say no to. I have far more expensive mics in my kit, and I picked this up just as a backup, and I am content.
