GREAT mini tablet, OK mp3 player, DO NOT GET OR BUY WET
1 of 1 found this helpful Great at home mini tablet, or if you visit places with wifi while on the go. It's like owning a tiny iPad I; I know because we have one. If you are thinking of getting an iPhone one day and not sure about the touch screen or worth of its abilities; this is a PERFECT item to test on. I found it very addictive! It's my at home go-to device for email, social networking, and quick weather/internet searches for when I'm not sitting at the computer.
PROBLEMS: DO NOT GET WET! 90%+ Gen 3 iPod touches canNOT be repaired if they have gotten wet inside. The most likely thing to short out is the logic board to touch screen controller. The board costs as much as a refurbished unit. IF YOU WANT TO BUY USED, you MUST HAVE IN WRITING BEFORE YOU PURCHASE that it does NOT have water damage, and even then, GOOD LUCK proving your case without a written statement from the Apple store.
ISSUES: The headphone jack is mounted to the side of the inside of this unit, and frequently comes loose causing static or loss of stereo sound. Requires professional to fix, due to fine soldering work.
As an MP3 player, I find the menu selection cumbersome, the sound quality average, and the pause button way too sensitive where I have to keep restarting songs. I guess before you put it down in the car or in your pocket; make sure the screen is locked.
