Excellent alternative to the newer, bigger and bolder
Lens is a lot smaller than the comparable 28-70mm ED IF which weighs a ton. Or the 24-70 AFS. Images are sharp at 2.8. Macro options is amazing. The push pull zoom is fun and easy to adjust to... makes a great companion with my 70-200 f2.8 af ED IF lens. Has a manual aperture ring for those who want compatibility with older film SLRs. At a large fraction of the price of newer Nikkor glass this lens is a steal. With todays post production apps it would be hard to notice a difference in sharpness between this and the new glass.
