First Elvis Cole detective novel and good place to start....
1 of 1 found this helpful I read a review of one of the more recent Elvis Cole detective novels by Robert Crais, and it was very positive. But, since I had never heard of this series, much less read any of the books, I decided to read the first one written. It was very good...I like my detectives who know how to crack wise even if means they will end up with a sock to the jaw. The only way I could date the novel by reading it was the model and year of cars mentioned in it and the obvious fact this was before ubiquitous cell phones. The characters are three dimensional and at times surprising and the plot was captivating without being confusing or contrived.
