Impressive

My reason for purchasing this product was I simply want the cleanest water I can get. This review is not about what is the best water to drink and cook with ( filtered, reverse osmosis, distilled, what ever) that is a decision for every individual to make. This review is my opinion and experiences concerning this particular product. I have nothing to do what so ever with the company, just a consumer.
The product appears very sturdy, well made, looks nice and it works fine. The first batch of water I distilled was from my kitchen tap, the water is filtered with a whole house filter like sold at your local Home Depot. It is "city water" from local municipal water supply.
I opened the distiller at the end of the process and was horrified at seeing what was at the bottom. It was aprox 2 oz. of liquid I guarantee no sane person would drink. I have the distiller on a timer set to power off before the thermal switch so there is an a couple oz of liquid left at the bottom when done, (5.5 hrs). I find it makes it easier to clean for if it runs dry it will shut off automatic but you will have residue to scrub off. With the timer method I just let it cool and toss out the 2 oz left over and refill. CAUTIONS: Its hot when running and stays hot a while after, I suggest letting it cool before opening and or refilling. Keep children away, boiling water. It has a fan on top so I run mine on an open counter top, not under a cabinet. Just common sense.
Hope this is helpful.
Update August 2018...... Still working fine, I use it everyday. The only maintenance is to clean the cooling fins in the top part of the unit. Unplug, let cool, undo the three screws, remove the plastic cover and blow dust off fins, reassemble. Once a year seems to do it.
