Off the handle.
2 of 2 found this helpful I give the rod five stars and the reel seat -3 stars. Very uncomfortable in my hand when using. If used long enough would wear blisters on my hand. I like the rod enough that I will replace the reel seat eventually.

Haven't used it yet but reels smooth, looks good. I'd give it 4 1/2 stars.
