Cortland USA fiberglass all-a-round fly rod, 8' 7wt, well built, nice heft
This 8 foot rod is vintage, but still fills a niche. It throws a 7wt line, which makes it an excellent selection as an all-a-round stick. It's short enough for small creeks and ponds, but long enough for rivers and lakes. The choice of 7 weight line means it will be delicate enough for small trout or panfish, yet solid enough for larger trout, bass or whatever. I bought it just for my collection and will likely never fish it. Cortland's rods don't compete with the big boys anymore: apparently they devote their energies to their lines, which are as good as you'll find. Kind of a shame, though, since this (made in the USA) rod is beautifully constructed and handles ever so nicely. Except for a few minor scuffs, this specimen would rate 5/5. As luck would have it, apparently no one who knows the excellent quality of Cortland's older fiberglass was watching. I was the only bidder and paid 25 bucks & shipping.
