Defective Range Extender

As soon as I plugged the device into the AC outlet I heard an annoying whining humming noise and I knew right away that a solid state device like this range finder had a serious problem. I went ahead and connected it anyway and was not surprised when I had no success. I have to believe that whoever put the device in the box had to know it was junk.
