Best value for spindle replacement
1 of 1 found this helpful Very good replacement part. Note that these contain sealed bearings which makes little sense in combination with a grease fitting. I removed the inner seals on both bearings so the grease that I pump in will actually get to the bearing balls and races. There is a good video on this on youtube. I believe this is quite common on some mowers and on most replacement spindles. For example on my brother's JD mower he had sealed OEM bearings with a grease fitting. On my JD Z-445 54C deck the OEM bearings had no seals in the bearing itself (so the greaser is functional) and with separate seals outside the bearings on the shaft.
I could see the advantage of a sealed bearing if the operator never greases them but with these spindles and a quick twist with a screwdriver to remove the inner seals I have a functioning greaser to keep them greased.
This is an amazing value compared to every other alternative I found for rebuilding my mower deck.
