Ip Man is the best martial arts movie out there.
I watch a lot of martial arts movies. I tend to like most MA movies, but I appreciate them on different levels. This definitely felt like a throwback to the Bruce Lee movies. Through these similarities you can see how much BL adopted from his master, how much of the philosophy of Wushu goes beyond fighting. It was interesting to learn the history of the Wushu master as well. He was exceptional. The best part of the movie was the fighting. I was blown away. I'm so used to seeing stunts that are obviously not real, artistic yeah, but believable? No. These action sequences are out of this world. Totally realistic, and bad as hell. Bruce Lee plays no part in this movie, but the whole time you are watching where he came from. And it is awesome. To anyone that is a MA enthusiast, this is a must, though if you are into MA movies, you've probably have already seen it. I don't know how I missed it when it came out. I sort of stumbled across it. If you have not seen it, yet, do yourself a huge favor and buy this movie immediately. You will not be sorry.
