Battery does not work with iPod 3rd gen classic.

Battery does not fit in an iPod 3rd generation. It also does not hold a charge. I plugged it into FireWire charger for hours and it never accepted a charge. I’m not sure what this is for but it does not work with iPod 3rd gen.
