2015 GL-AR150 Portable Smart Router OpenWrt with External antenna
    Feb 22, 2016
    Best in it's class
There are many near identical products released in the past couple of years based on this same chip-set, all good performers for their size. The "real deal" here getting double the memory with the AR150 as seen in other similar models. More memory means additional features can be added within the OpenWRT architecture, including services such as OpenVPN, file servers, media servers and security packages. Other bonuses include two jacks (WAN/LAN or configurable), Power Over Ethernet (simplifying remote mounting applications) plus the high gain antenna that few other models in this class sport. Not only does this little fire cracker pack a punch with the extra large antenna, the fact that the antenna is removable allows this setup to be used in all kinds of applications which require an "external antenna" of even larger proportions. This can be anything from attaching a magnet mount car-top antenna to a high gain dish antenna used to share Internet connections from homes to out buildings, etc. Lots of possibilities exist with this little power block. Here's my experience with these little gems - I own two of them and being a frequent traveler I always take both on the road with me. The OpenWRT firmware (the stock software program that comes shipped on this router) allows the AR150 to perform either as an access point (e.g. giving you a wireless signal from a hotel room LAN cable, or other similar implementation where there's wired and you need wireless). It can be also readily switched to serve in client mode where it can often be placed near a hotel window and used pull in a distant signal from a hotel lobby that a phone or laptop can't always pull in. Installed on my second AR150, I have replaced the OS firmware with another version called ROOter (see a support network called "OfModemsAndMen"). ROOter additionally provides support to a wide variety of USB Cell Phone modems while still based on OpenWRT architecture. WIth ROOter firmware, the AR150 provides Internet via a cell data network (via a SIM card and USB-Modem combination, plugged into the AR150's USB slot). The wi-fi signal from the AR150 in this setup performs near exactly as a Hotspot would perform; however, with the AR150 one can have full control over the base OS, adding new security and any number of additional features - basically anything that OpenWRT can support. And unlike a Kotspot, there are no restrictions on how many devices you can add to the wi-fi network this little bugger creates.

150mm 6inch Digital Electronic Stainless Steel Vernier Caliper Micrometer Gauge

If the rest they're selling are like this one - then don't bother
I purchased one of these exact same units about 8 years ago and it was perfect. This one has the display turning on and off and the readout slides down the graduated scale while reading zeroes randomly and each time you slide it back to origin is is so far off from the number you started with, it's nothing but a waste of your time. Better to use a precision ruler than this joke of a product. Way flaky and just the simple movement of sliding it down the scale causes all kinds of random values when compared to one I've used before that actually works.
