Versatile lens that is excellent quality!
1 of 1 found this helpful Canon makes good lenses! I really love this 24-105mm f/4 lens. The internal stablization is an excellent feature. This lens seems slightly softer (less sharp) than other Canon "L" lenses that I've used. That's not necessarily good or bad––just something to take into account if you are considering purchasing this lens.
These are super durable lenses and last for many years (I had one for many years, gave to a friend and now own a second one), so buying one used is often a great way to save some $$ and still get an amazing lens with many years of life left. Just make sure you purchase from a reputable seller!
If I was to mention one complaint about this lens is that the zoom extension is really loose. Meaning that if you extend the zoom out to 105mm and tilt the lens so it is pointing up, gravity causes the lense to zoom back out to 24mm. And similarly, if I sling the camera over my shoulder, it slowly zooms in until it is fully extended at 105mm. I think this is partly due to heavy, high-quality glass. But still, I wish it stayed put and was stiff enough not to be affected by gravity. Having owned two of these lenses, I can say that the newer the lens, the less of a problem it is. It seems to "loosen" up over time.

Epic. Simply epic!
Simply amazing lens! Definitely an epic lens that every professional photographer should have in their bag. Color is amazing. Sharp, but not too sharp. Image stabilization works flawlessly. Focus is lightening-fast!
