Vent way more smoke and steam!
1 of 1 found this helpful I have an over the oven microwave and even though it is vented to the outside of the house, there is a lot of smoke/steam that is not captured by it and accumulates in the kitchen. This seems to be largely due to the fact that the front burners are completely in front of the microwave. This hood extension essentially solves this problem, capturing and directing the smoke/steam back to the fan. Now, while everything is initially captured it seems that it still does not all get vented out. However, I would say that this has increased the amount being vented from about 25% up to about 75%, so still a big improvement. It takes some minor getting used to having the hood stick out that extra bit, but if you ever run into a situation where it is in the way, the hood itself can be easily removed, it is only the bracket that holds it that is screwed on. Note that this is the only product of this type that I have been able to find.
